That is part of what it made dust514 so enjoyable for me, doing something else than shooting a gun, but still help my team.
BTW don't you feel like that the end of dust is part of the metagame? Retired mercs, still going to the same pub, talking about the same stories, waiting for something...

Don't forget the role of blueberry meat shield. They make great diversions, but never seem to get off a shot before being killed... Let us take a moment to honor those who died stupidly and unwittingly helped us get a nice easy kill on the enemy dumb enough to focus them. |

Can go do other things. - Random +50 kills popping up to bust your moral. - Knowing that you just defended and uplink, as the RE usually would not kill friendly uplinks. - Teaching people that there are sometime consequences for petty vandalism. That RE-on-top-of-Uplink bullshittery was the worst scumbaggery I have ever encountered in a game, but it was golden.

I always really wanted to throw REs on ULs, but I couldn't spare them from the hacking consoles. It was an easy way to create a little chaos as a hacker. Flux the console, throw down an RE, hack the console, and run. Towards the end I caught many fewer people not looking for REs, but for a (surprisingly) long time people just didn't check a console before hacking. Lots of easy kills that way.
Pretty sure I even caught Ripley Riley like that once :D

When I ran RE I liked to carry 3 different types. Then I would use one detonator to cover objectives, use another type to cover uplinks, and still have a set for general mayhem.
I called this my Mad Bomber fit.
I think 5 kills with a single RE was my record, although I might have gotten 6 once. I saw a YouTube of someone getting 7 kills with a detonation.
I took Jehad Jeeps one step father placing the remotes on all sides of the LAV, driving to the enemy held objective in a Domination match, then bailing and running, trying to hit the detonator as soon as I was out of range. The most satisfying though was one time when I died before I had a chance to detonate the explosives, but then the enemy hacked my LAV and 3 of them took it for a joyride. Boom!
I also tried Jehad Dropships, which sort of worked, but I was not the greatest pilot so I did not always manage to crash in the right spot. But when done right is was like an Orbital Strike. Basically 9 RE places around the perimeter of a 15m long ellipse shape.
Oh, and the time I put an RE on the side of a friendly Tank and an enemy shot the tank with a ForgeGun from 4m away and killed himself. That was funny! The Tanker could not stop laughing.
