Mmm, I was expecting rep mods to be active only, with passives being for things like increased hp. Also not keen on cooldowns, was hoping for more of a flicking between different mods on the go as and when a situation called for it.
Hopefully it ends up being shorter cooldowns, so there's more reason to stay in the fight and hope you last long enough to make use of them... Would hate to see it go the way of Dust tanking, where you go in - use your stuff - run away until they're back up... I can just see everyone fitting an active speed mod to use like an afterburner as soon as **** runs out, lol. |

@Pokey As always, thank you for the posts and obsessions to keep info flowing back into the DUST514 forums.
As I read, there is nothing of DUST carrying forward that interests me to keep my hope in the dream of what DUST could (should) have been.. I will put it down now and stop debating other posters (not that it ever did any good).
NOVA is a different game, period. I hope it succeeds, truly. I will play it. And I will try to keep the smug disgust and jealousy at bay enough to give it as much of an unbiased chance as I can. Hell, I may enjoy it. I hope I do. As I enjoyed Diablo, Mass Effect, WoW, CoD, Elder Scrolls, etc., because they are all different games. NOVA is a different game now.
I think Fiend said it best: "Eh."
All that I can think of to ask then in the context of your post is how are they going to handle player control of such cooldowns? Do they see a toolbar of sorts showing the individual mods and cooldown progressions? Are we using custom key binds?
All the best. Good luck with the development.
*EDIT* Ripley Riley Are things like dropsuits, weapons. and modules consumed?
CCP Rattati No. Only consumable things. Risk/Reward I have explained before. The ISK loss mechanic. I do not want people to hide from losses. Only to reap more from killing high powered enemies and winning missions.
Oh. ... no death penalty. *shivers*

There is a penalty for death it just isn't the same as Dust, I apologize if I wasn't clear. ISK - Insurance cover 0% to 100% of this loss. High level battles do not have insurance. Low level will have 100% refund. Players can opt out of insurance to risk making a larger profit.
In short it's basically auto charging the cost it would take to restock the suit minus whatever the insurance covers (if any).

Am I interpreting this correctly that rewards for killing suits will vary by level at some point?
I am glad because I had asked for that forever.
That automatically makes risk/reward more normalized. It was hard for non slaying classes like Logis and lower tier suits to keep up with PC abusing proto groups. Giving more rewards for a X-1 equivalent taking down an Xk.0 and less rewards for the reverse. That would have made Pub Stomping much less financially rewarding, even if it didn't disincline trolls.

Not sure how the reward structure will be handled, after all, that is a lot of numbers that probably won't be hammered out for some time. However, it does seem that there will be some benefit for defeating an enemy who is stronger than you, which is a good thing.

lol. That may change the context of some of your posts I might have totally misread as a result.

I'm interested to see how they handle any potential insurance fraud if salvage is still a thing
i.e. 2 players conspire to be on opposite sides, 1 has 100% insurance and repeatedly dies to the other player who has 0% insurance

*hides in shame* Did you read my sig?
I was at 9 million SP before some "friendly" pointed out my name sounds like something from an out take from Grumpy Old Men. By then it was too late to start over. So I had to create my own corp just to give it context.
Dust was not the type of game to carelessly choose one's name.

Well, keep in mind, since the dropsuits/modules are effectively never destroyed (or at the very least they're auto-restocked upon death -- whatever way of thinking suits you better), you won't be picking up shield extenders and damage mods from the battlefield. It seems that the majority of rewards really come from winning contracts and gaining standing with various corporations, rather than individual actions on the battlefield. So yeah you could blow around your buddy who has insurance repeatedly, but it may not really earn you much aside from perhaps farming SP on a weapon or suit.
Again rewards structures have not really been discussed in length so much of that is my own speculation.

^yeah. As I read that I figured it meant that you would just autostock upon death (as if nothing happened), and not so much you getting a lump payout of ISK as you would in say car insurance. Instead, your insurer would just replace your car. You get no money to do as you please.
Hell if I know though. I'm just giving another way to look at it, assuming I'm anywhere on point.

DeathwindRising wrote:the biggest question I have is why there are cool downs on Active modules while also restricting Active modules usage to Capacitor?
Shouldn't we be able to run to simply run Active modules until cap runs out?
If my Active module cost 25 cap to activate and I have 100 cap, why can't I activate my module again after it duration? Why would I need to wait an additional amount of time after completion of the modules duration before I can use it again?
a cooldown for the modules after you MANUALLY turn off the module or the cap runs out would be acceptable, but not for simply running a module.
What if i only have one Active module and cap regen is greater than cap cost? Shouldn't that mean I get to perma run my module?
A greater explanation of how cool downs work in relation with cap is desired.
