Logis have always been a class that has a lot of hatred attached to it.
Why did so many players hate logis? Why did players hate being revived. This thread will answer that. I will merely tell you why i hated logis.
Most of them were raging idiots. Most didn't know what to do. Following a SCOUT and repping them while said scout was busy trying to sneak around and hack/place uplinks.
Some would revive IN THE MIDDLE OF SJHCSJFHJC GUNFIRE. Like seriously, do you not see the towering fat ass munching on cheetos waiting for you to revive me so he can jack off his HMG and blow his load on us you disgusting neanderthal?
Some would rep assaults. Which is kind of stupid because they die fast somewhat.
What are your grievances towards these lonesome asshats?

What are your grievances towards these lonesome asshats? I repped people who asked to be repped when it was safe to do so. I also guarded people when I could, even though much of the time I knew I would never escape alive. I was just helping squads guard the objective most of the time.
I had the occasional player rage at me for not repping them when I was supposedly near enough to do so, but I never put myself at risk to rep another player, that just seemed idiotic to me. In one case it was apparently someone in a really expensively fit officer suit, well how am I meant to know that?? Fool them for risking an expensive suit in a pub match if they didn't want to lose it.
I didn't logi much, only really enough to understand that there were those who would hate you for it whether you repped them or not. I much preferred Assault or Scout. |

Ha!
While I did often use lots of equipment for benefit of team (usually A crowd nedci, so rep heavies and assaults and commandos and place links and nanohives), my main logo was loved by team and hated by enemy.
Why?
4 Porto scanners.
Spammer scanner.
Scan after scan after scan after scan after scan after scan after scan after scan after scan, the enemy would find it hard to push because of fear of getting **** since they were scanned. Only some scouts could make it past. I did receive some hate mail for it lol.

The Logi was not an easy role. It involved too much multitasking and micromanagement for most.
That, and people didn't know how to play while under reps. Time and time again bad players leave the flank exposed and their logi gets killed, and even blame them for it.
A person under reps has a job to protect their support unit in addition to killing things. A logibro has a job to kill things and make sure everyone stays up (+ links, scans, ammo, etc). That's right, I put "kill things" first. I'm calling out the overrated logis that were just there to farm WP and couldn't handle themselves in a firefight. The ones that are never even visible on the frontline and hold R1 the entire match on people with full shields.

I believe Shayz made a video on that.
I personally don't hate logis (bad ones excluded), but the over reliance of them to do EVERYTHING and then screaming in chat turns you from
'-----> <----- -----> <-----
I just fixed that sh!t!'
To
'B!tch I control whether you live or fukin die.
I will revive you in from of these reds and run for hills laughing evilly. Needless to say I didn't get screamed at that much. Or dropped from being some people's Chaotic Logistics Engineer.

I agree with your kill first statement and I don't remember if I made a post on it ages ago, but I stressed that logos can't rely solely on equipment in a game that's about shooting. If you can't kill, how do you expect to help team efficiently? It's not just about reps etc

Exactly; if no one needs reps, the logi should be adding DPS. Making something die twice as fast before all the other reds respond is better then a battle of attrition, as dragging it out will leave you outnumbered, therefore flanked, therefore dead.
I speak from being a survivalist duo with a Galmando who I synergized extremely well with (CeeJ Mantis). Working with a full squad is a bit more complicated, but fundamentally the same.
Taking care of blues is another story altogether. Always used long range reps since they like to wander away before they're topped off.

Wayyy back, the edges of the screen used to glow yellow while being repped. I'll admit, it was excessive, but the complete removal made things harder for both parties.

Hahaha. For the last 4 months of dust I used this fit many times. Probs best map I've used it was the new caldari outpost. Once team took objective, scanning began in all directions. No one could recap because they were scared of getting near.

To keep their teamates alive ? To supply equipment to the team ? To ease the grind for an Orbital ?

They represent so much that was wrong with the game.
Forcing the armour heavy meta, the easy wp farming, the uplink spam, the **** poor fps when a small area was just a pile of equipment?
Is it really that surprising they were hated?
Not to mention they even got pissy with themselves when Logi's started spamming RE's to kill the perma repped heavies, lololol.

I was a logi for 85 to 90% of my two year dust active duty Not to toot my own horn but I was good at the job. Ma6be not #1 but better than most at least on publuc battles. The thing about dust was that the medic/logi actually made an impact on the game. Logis if played well were game changers from keeping troops healthy, providing intel?ammo supply and even killing (killer bees).
The thing with being a good logi was to have busy hands. As a logi your th7mbs are always moving and you have to have your equipment engraved in your skull. A logi is a jack of all trades and you have to cover all the rolls all the time. For me I wouldn't be repping 24/7. I always had my rigfle out and my first responce was to shoot. You have to keep constant aeareness of the game and your team mates.
A typical battle was to arrive by whatever means to a destination. Inmediately switch to a scanner and do a quick seeep. Quickly switch to drop links and once again I may had had to do yet another scan before finally switching to my rifle. If under fire I would help by shooting the enemy but inmediately switch to rep tool and keep people alive. I may have to quickly switch to a needle and rep the clone to safety. Once again do another quick scan and then inmediately switch either to the rep tool or the scanner. I would be cycling through all my equipment ALL the time. Very busy work. My kid who is a very decent fps gamer couldn't quite handle the job. Yes, he would have rou ds where he made mire points than me but it was very inconsistent. He is good at the killing but not so much at the constant busyness of logiing. |
