It's Unreal Engine 4 man, now I might be wrong but I think even my old laptop with Intel HD Graphics could run it on minimum settings, provided it's well-optimized.
Although, for most games a GTX950 should suffice, some will run at max settings with 60fps with that thing, I'd also recommend getting a good processor, at least dual-core, I have an i3 3.7GHz dual-core CPU.
8Gb RAM is enough.

I run a system a little under what's above but can run most games quite fine, they're not AAA games nor do I plan on playing those. When building a system you have to keep in my mind what type of gamer you are and the games you'll be playing. No point in breaking the 500 mark if all you do is emulators and f2p. In this case, NOVA will be F2P so don't expect the requirements to be extreme.

That's not necessarly true if you talk about the engine itself tbh.
While it's true that UE4 has a lot of "easy to use", built in ways to optimize games, the heavy parts of a game nowadays are draw calls, assets polycount , shader and lighting complexity (and, to some extent also texture size). Basically, it depends.
That said, the fanfest demo does not seem to be particularly "heavy" for todays "top graphics" (Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield 1 etc) :
- LODs seem to be pretty "aggressive" (as you can see the popping of a higher definition mesh in this video between 0:21 and 0:22 while still being relatively "close" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLGdp9lp2Kw).
- There seem to be a wide (and wise imo) usage of Normal Maps for secondary details which would undoubtedly drastically reduce polycount (0:44 on the same video).
- Last but not least, UE4 standard Occlusion Culling works wonderfully.
I only have one little doubt: in certain situations, particles might be too heavy, but I'm sure it was just an eye-candy for the fanfest demo.
But that's what I can say based on a youtube video, I wasn't there so I cannot be more specific on things like texel density for example and above all, it was a pre-production demo so everything might have changed. All in all, at that state, I'd say it shouldn't have been too heavy.

It depends on where you live . If you lived here where I live, you'd probably be on the beach enjoying the sun, complaining about the temperature being too warm.
And mocking tourists who wear socks and sandals.
I mean, We hate people who wear socks with sandals.
It's just too warm. Seriously.
Why would you wear socks if you're going to the beach, anyway?
Aww, I hate people who wear socks and sandals .

Look into a game called Fractured Space. Uses the UE4 engine, is absolutely stunning as far as graphics, and most of all is free. If you can run that fairly well, you should be a'ight, theoretically speaking.
Basically just build your rig around other current UE4 games.
EDIT: I'll see if I can get the specs for the PCs used for the Nova playtest at Fanfest 2015.

Yeah that system is overkill.
I have heard nothing to indicate that they're not aiming for normal gaming PCs.
When they start banging the specs together and give us info to share, we'll tell you guys immediately.
But the PCs that were marketed for Valkyrie would definitely be overkill for an FPS.

(according to what I see about the project Nova demo, 3D, effects...) 1080p medium-High setting easy 60 FPS spec I think : ~i5 180-200$ processor 8Go RAM 70$ (for example, on my PC in Ultra 60FPS BF1 use only around 4Go of RAM, and 4Go VRAM) ~GTX 960/970, GTX 1050Ti/1060; RX 470/480 160~250$ graphics cards If you add the power supply, the case, HDD, SSD, MB, W10... you can have a good PC Gaming for 800$-900$ max.
However if you still don't have a PC, you should wait new AMD processor/graphics card. That can be cool for your wallet.
Min specs, like 720p/1080p low easy 60 FPS : ~i3/amd processor 100-130$ ~130$ graphics cards GTX 1050/RX 460 (it still more powerfull than a PS4 1st gen )
Complete PC build around 500-600$ max.
Then.... if you want an overkill PC, this is my PC specially build for Nova : i7 6700K 4.2GHz Z170X MotherBoard Card from Gibabyte 16 Go Corsair RAM, 3200MHz GTX 1080 Xtreme Gaming from Gibabyte SSD Samsung Evo HDD 2To Gamer Storm Genome Case w/ watercooling
And for better experience : Corsair STRAFE w/ MX Silent Corsair Gaming Sabre XL mouse pad MM300 from Corsair Sennheiser PC 373D
If with that I can't run Nova, This game is developed with the feet haha.

Wait and see. No need to buy a PC now if all you want to do with it is to play Nova. Whenever it's out, if it's ever out, you'll have plenty of guys here happy to share good builds for Nova.
Amd is releasing Ryzen (new CPUs) and Vega (new GPUs) in the coming months so wait for that too.
