As long as fps games continue to be nominated and winning games of the year, I think yes, Project Nova has a chance to become a reality.

With the Antartic Treaty in full effect, that's highly doubtful IMO. I would think the people would see a recession before any nuclear war. Government's are good at misleading and controlling the emotions of the people though .

Government's are good at misleading and controlling the emotions of the people though . Well apparently Russia has a relatively recent nuclear torpedo that can create tsunamis and salt our coasts. The damn thing can't be countered by current technology. They are also producing new missiles that can win against our anti air missiles defense system. there's been talks in Congress to start modernizing the nuclear weapons fleet. So I don't know, Nuclear War doesn't seem as far off as it did before...

You may be right , after everything i've looked into though it appears to me there is an agenda they are pushing. They are creating anger, fear and disgust so their plans will be accepted by the people with more ease . And really wtf have these countries been together hiding in Antartica. They say it's the most important place left for Science, but what Science does anybody even know regarding that Continent? Except that it's very cold. So we're banned from freely exploring. So it's illegal to pass the North Pole and it's illegal to pass the South Pole. No matter our personal beliefs, their protecting something.

What you are referring to is a piece of purposefully "leaked" Russian propaganda specifically made to make the west nervous. It's a stupid old tool in the KGB toolkit. What makes matters worse is how people continue to perpetuate what amounts to be a rumor like it is gospel, adding to the growing anxiety.
Here is a synopsis of the "leak"
My advice to you, playa.

The Russians tried to psych us out with the MiG-25 Foxbat as well. At the end of the day, the perceived threat was not nearly what we thought it was. However, the F-15 Eagle we built in response was very real.
I also would imagine the range of a nuclear torpedo isn't much greater than a conventional torpedo. A Russian sub would have to get pretty close to fire it. During the Cold War we had a string of sonar buoys on the ocean floor, and this combine with our ability to use engine noise to fingerprint any sub in the water we knew where every sub on the planet was at any time.
To my knowledge that string of sonar buoys is no longer active, and I'm sure the Russians have come quite a long ways in regards to sub tech since the Cold War, but a nuclear torpedo is no more a threat than any of Russia's other nuclear weapons.
More intersesting/threatening would be the system the Russians have apparently developed for shooting down satellites. Of course, the US and China have the same capability, so it's far from a game changer.
At the end of the day, none of the major powers are interested in igniting a nuclear war, it's all simply posturing. If we want to fight each other we will continue to do it through 3rd parties such as Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Syria.
And if we really wanted to de-escalate all of this silliness we would take our foot out from Russia's doorjam. We've been kicking around right at their borders since we went to Europe to stop the Germans in the 40's. No wonder they are so aggressive.
And if all else fails, I know a lot of the people on these forums are in college. There are coloring books, grief counsilors, and safe spaces to cry if it all gets too overwhelming. |
