Is it theoretically possible run dust on a private server? Like people do for WoW and other MMO's? I'm sure we can locate someone with the game still on their PS3. No problem there, but could we possibly find a way to essentially homebrew a server to battle on? I know it's longshot but could someone with a more in depth knowledge comment about how possible or impossible it would be?

Since the logins go through sony playstation themselves, and the license has long expired, I think there is no way of doing such thing because they won't allow it, at least, without a massive payment I guess.

Sure to login to Dust you needed to be logged into PSN, but there's nothing stopping you from using a custom DNS server to hijack calls to TQ to your own server. You would just need to write your own implementation of DUST's crest(OAuth included) which wouldn't be the hard part. This stuff just does everything needed while not in battle(market/text chat/mails/corps/skills/etc).
Writing code for the battle servers would be the tricky part as you would need to implement all of the UE3 serialization, and I, nor anyone I know were able to get packet dumps before the servers shut down.

Thank you for the explanation. I'm just going to chock this idea up to "improbable" and move on.
