Well the AR is still in the works but decided to treat myself to a helmet as well.

Printing this wekeend and painting whenever we get the chance. The left eye piece is seperate too so a clear lens can be vac formed

Doing the wearable helmet for myself as a tester but I'm working on a bust and stand which i'll upload pics of over next few days.
Its a circle base with large minmatar logo in centre with my final stats going around the rim of the base and then a small plaque section with merc name and corp. Whole thing stand and bust will be about 9" tall.
If you check out the link to our Facebook page you can throw any enquiries that way about the AR and helmet/bust once they're done.
Had enquiries from old corp mates about other race and class busts which may do if there is demand but i'm tempted to do the HAV's or Dropships next with moving thrusters/turrets. I've seen those little USB desktop missile launchers and i'd really love to try incorporate one of them into a Gunloggi model so that its a kinda working desktop model/toy

Couldn't get the top 2 links to work, the stuff on the facebook link looks great!
I have been wanting to look into 3d printing for a while now, but thought it was still too early to invest in a proper printer. What is the best printer to get at the moment, or are there still too many brands and types competing against each other? Are ones that make larger items overly expensive?
I went outside today... The graphics were good, but the gameplay was shit.

Depends on the printer, either DIY kits or plug n play. i bought a couple flashforge creator pro and they've been spot on, very easy to learn with but most home plug n play have similar build plates (about size of A5 sheet of paper and 140-150mm height)
D.I.Y kits are good if you're a bit mechaniclaly minded but can take a fair bit of calibrating for best print quality but a 300mm cude build plate diy kit is about $500 whereas a plug n play is around $800-$1000

Had someone design it in ZBrush for me using few reference pics i could find on google, not decided yet on what colour scheme to paint it. I spent most my early DUST years as a logi so tempted to paint it in the SVER colours. Trying to find a reference for the old SVER colours n not the orange/brown camo style they replaced it with

Yanno, the Caldari Prime Pony Club (Eve Online ship painter thing, google it!) would LOVE to have that model, and I've been trying to convince CCP to give 'em up for a while! Would that particular someone be interested in donating ^_^

Not got a price yet, i'm just sorting out the size of it for this print. Its finally complete now so i'm gonna try get an estimate print time/filament usage for it all and see what it turns out at.
As an estimate for a printed and painted one it'd work out about -ú250 custom painted into the style you want (pics permitting)
Its quite a big piece though and i may end up tweaking how the stand looks yet

Hey bud sorry took a while to repost. We're currently getting the printed one painted. I'm thinking of going for old skool sver colours if i can get a good reference pic so we'll be posting images when thats painted.
As for others i'm gonna look at getting a model cast to get em in resin and although not wanting to share the 3d file for it i'm sure i can send em out either a printed one or a cast one to paint as a bit of shamelsess promotional purposes lol. I have a Facebook page for this character so if someone from the group wants to either invite me to an FB group or inbox me io can talk stuff over with em about getting ones sorted. I'm looking at getting the rest of the 'beta' suits (amarr heavy, gallente scout, caldari assault) as well in both bust form and wearable helmet as some kind of kits. Few other projects for some TV/Film stuff coming in over next couple months so personal stuff takes back seat inbetween real job lol
