I really enjoyed dust but I don't know why I tolerated the lopsided battles. And I also don't know why I tolerated the ***** of a skill tree, If the vast majority of players had regrets there should gotten your first respec for free.
dust514 is NOT a team sport like football, Most players would make their team lose if it got their squad more kills.

I didn't. At least not the lopsided battles.
When it got to that point I for the most part stopped playing. Maybe a few battles if a new patch released, but towards the end I mostly played other games.

The last year or so I mostly just played to make random videos, get my flying fix, and to check out the light changes that happened a couple times.
Respecs should have been baked into the game from the beginning for cheaper or with an ISK equivalent. I picked one up for lulz and to support the dying beast, and as sort of an FU to the anti-respec crowd.
From dust we rose through trials young as legions run through countless souls; resting dreams within the boundless nova.

lock boxes, keys and aur ranking. everything else takes a back seat on things that really bothered me about dust.

I loved the space-y feel it gave, it was special, like no other shooter at the time, and that's why I kept playing every day until the end was announced.

This was mostly my approach to lopsided battles:
If my team was the stronger, I would use weapons or fittings that I sucked with but wanted to get better at. Or practice tanks or dropships, which I was abysmal at using.
If my team was the weaker, I would rejoice in making myself a nuisance to stompers, play hide-and-seek, RE their LAVs while they were rehacking the point I just captured, sneak in and knife the heavy in their midst and then disappear, feel superior when I took on multiple tanked out enemies in my ewar centered, no HP mods, Amarr scout and so on.
Basically just take it as a challenge to do as well as possible, even if the match was impossible to win. I think I quit 1 out of 500 matches or so while soloing, and it was never due to poor odds. |

Refunded once with SP from Mercenary Pack so I didn't directly pay for just the SP. I had stupid SP all over the place, so i just cleaned up with some to spare.
As for matchmaking, in a insane match I would try everything at my disposal, so if nothing worked at least i exhausted all options before i left. Plus being called 'a pain to fight' by a few well known good players always made me .
Unfortunately without the consistency of those types of matches I've gone from Barely Honorable Mention to Unmentionable Bad.
