A careful review of my journal immediately following the period of the Dust 514 server shut down revealed a peculiar fascination with "how [...] 3D walking around outside in nature" looked. Here is a short excerpt:
June 5th, 2016
A strange sensation that evolved into a sagacious revelation: as I walked forward through the woods, a keen awareness of clarity and the smoothness of motion by which I propelled myself by means of a sequence of contracting and relaxing the muscles in my thighs, legs and feet. I was neither distracted by visual artifacts nor clipping, nor was my inertia resisted by glitches or unusual coefficients of friction. At one point I was particularly struck dumb by the pace at which my biological avatar clambered across a steep hillside without catching against the vertices of the ground's surface. It was as though I had been conditioned to battle unnatural frictions and stickiness in such a context, and in that moment I wondered at the epiphany of biomechanical locomotion.
After several hours of perspicacious exploration, another enlightening discovery again liberated my mind to new ideas, for I found that I could lower my hands out of my field of view. And this embargo having been lifted, I was amazed at retaining cognizance of my own body through mere proprioception sans the visual reference of my hands before me. Had I never left the welcoming and familiar gluteal indention of my arm chair, I would yet be deprived of how vastly deep and realistically 3D walking around outside in nature appeals to my longing for photorealism in a 60+ fps HDR engaging milieu.
And so I am primed and poised for a metamorphosis of sorts... |

Try EVE. It does not have the immediate run and gun action of DUST but can be pretty exciting such as passing through low or null sec. FW was decent fun too. There's other stuff available too such as being a high sec merc, RvB, and other stuff I never tried myself for some action. I just didn't have the time needed to devote to such a game. If you have a decent amount of free time and you like the economy and skill structure behind DUST, then give EVE a try. If you do, a word of advice is to join an established corp with a decent amount of members that will actually help rather than a startup or independent (low member, no alliance) corp that say they will help. Or if you know you want to battle, go RvB which was recommended to me many times but I tried to go primarily industrialist which is pretty absurd without at least decent low sec connections.
I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

Then your scout buddy can flank and gank them all.
