I thought of another discussion topic while waiting for Project Nova news: *** Name 1 thing you thoroughly enjoyed and 1 thing you most regret from playing DUST 514.
For me, I really enjoyed running a corp. There were some bad days but the good days far outnumbered the bad. As for regret, I really regret not driving a single Minmatar vehicle. I really liked the concept for the Minmatar LAV. Of course, the availability of the Minmatar LAV was outside of my hands.
I cannot be bought, but I can be leased.

#1 awesomeness: My Last few PC battles were memorable to me because I actually made a difference and was at a place were I actually enjoyed playing everyday against the very best.
Biggest regret would be not picking up the MinLogi sooner. Ran Amarr Logi for most of my Merc life.

Enjoyment- Knife game, meeting people, PC, chat not filled with console stereotypes (mostly), people gave a damn about what was in chat, an actually awesome chat system, remote explosives, shotguns, no show PC shenanigans, scout & co shenanigans.
Regret- I have no faith in F2P console develpers especially if it was a PC to console port, simple because I think its a cash grab with crap everything or not finished, and not actually caring about the playerbase. Once I get a PC and can buy into games (ex BF Overwatch) I'm done on console.
Another regret- throwing fits like a two year old on the forum because someone said or did something i didn't like
TLDR Enjoyed basically everything about Dust, regret, extreme distrust of console devs especially F2P and looking into PC, known for tantrums on forums

I am enjoying reading the replies (even though a couple put more than one of each). I am surprised lag did not come up more. Still, I did not have lag as bad as most have described. Anyway, keep the replies coming.

Loved Skirmish & Dom. Especially if you got into a squad that knew what they were doing. I teamed up with some jackasses in my time too lol Generally loved kicking ass with 1 of my RR loadouts or causing mayhem in my HAV's or LAV's.
Lag was at times a big issue. It was really irritating especially if it kicked in halfway through a match.
I regret not using most of my dropships. And some of my other loadouts that I didn't use enough of. |

Loved: Killing a teammate in FW and then reviving him and killing him once and again, until he had no choice but to turn his PS3 off to escape.
Regret: The implementation of the ask for revive mechanic or something along those lines that prevented me from picking people up against their will

Loved: Nitpicking over fittings and obsessing with statistics and percentages, working out the optimum fit.
Regret: Obsessing with being in prestigious corps and obsessing with K/D, not savouring having fun with friends. Also being a bit narcissistic on the forums.
I was going to say I regret not getting into PC more, but now that I think about it, I don't. PC was laggy, took a lot of time to set up, took a lot of mental effort to prepare for, and for the most part I didn't actually like the PC community. I do regret caring so much about what other people thought of me though.

Loved- the community man. Dust was unique with its chat system. Friends, enemies, corp members, famous and imfamous players, player made events, etc
Regret- always doubting myself in PC (hence why I started PC so late in the game). Had I begin earlier I could have left my mark but I unfortunately got into it when it was unplayable (all districts taken by major corps, but team cuz players in other Corps, lag here, lag there)

Loved - Much of the initial design...the fitting, skirmish 1.0, the community, the overall future vision (even if much of it was and still is fairly unrealistic.
Hated - Dealing with the awful implementation. Code thats not easily expanded, systems without proper forward thinking, general lack of focus during the most critical parts of development.

I don't know if I should regret it. It really depends on the mindset of the typical pubstomper, If they were literally trying to destroy the game for some sort of power rush then I would feel that I wasted the money I spent on the game.
dust514 is NOT a team sport like football, Most players would make their team lose if it got their squad more kills.

I actually really enjoyed the social interaction in this game: something I've really never seen in no other game, MMO included. Moreover, the thing that you don't just create a clan/corporation but you also used to join an alliance expanding even more the intercultural exchange. Pretty awesome achievement especially nowadays.
I regret the overall gameplay. It always felt "clunky", somehow heavy. I firmly believe that if the moment to moment gameplay was better, Dust would have survived much longer and, perhaps, such kind of topics would have never existed.

As a way to bump this thread and keep this discussion going, I will admit I was kind of irritated with CCP that there was only 2 heavy weapons available during DUST's entire existence. I am hoping to see at least one more Heavy weapon in Project Nova.

What I enjoyed?
Flying
What I regret?
Flying. No game has something that can soothe my ADS urge. It's so bad that I hardly play my ps3 now.
But honestly... It was the sense of family that came out of it... People who played were people who went through, and put up with the good and bad times. The small, but tight knit community made me have some damn good times after school/work.
My only regret is wishing for it to come back, and know it won't be for a long time.

Most people on these forums say they hated pc, it was a lag fest or whatever other excuse for why they hated it, but for me it was the most enjoyable part of the game. All the craziness with the whole corp voiced up pre game.... I miss that the most. The trolls, the drunken shenanigans.... nothing else compares. What I regret the most is not doing a little corp hopping and getting to know more people in game. I spent pretty much my entire 3 years of dust in only 3 corps...
Every match I play can be summed up in one sentence:
"Well, that didn't f#cking go as planned"
