I want to see a really overhauled Pub circuit. With ladder rankings, tournaments, trophies.
Would be fun to gear up for the season with your squad and play for something even in pubs

That isn't what Pubs are for...
Even games with Rankings like Overwatch, Rocket League, and CoD have unranked Pubs.
Ranked play is more endgame than Pub.
Ranked seasons may be a good PC fill in when the game releases until something more substantial comes into play, but it should by no means replace what should be casual modes.

Pretty much. Ranked would be basically PC level of gameplay but without the territorial element. You would be fighting over the leaderboards rather than land. You won't get that level of competition in pubs.

Hopefully game types are kept to a minimum for a good while. As much as it kills me to hear no vehicles and no EVE connection to start, I'm sure it's for the best. I'm less interested in content at this point and more interested in seeing CCP put together a coherent and realistic game plan, then execute the basics without too much silliness.
That being said Ranking/Tournament stuff would be cool Talos. I would agree with OEK that it's more end game than pub, and in that framework you could have a sort of Military Games, or PC Olympics. Between PC battles Corps could have "friendlies" (ranked play), and tournaments could be handed down a few times a week or whatever.
Could end up being a great way to give people ranked/tournament while also creating a space to prepare people for PC that's a little more intense than pubs, but without the worry of negative impacts on territory/finances.
This would all hinge, of course, on a healthy player count. |
