Glancing over some of Ratmans comments on Nova....
Did I read double jump And what the hell are they thinking
Maybe I am wrong to think this... but with silence from the Gods above.. who knows
Am I the only one worried Nova will be a spacegoon COD adventure
CCP were always close to having a good core to build from imho, so I can say I am afraid they may get lost trying to add novelty features rather than working on the true drugs in New Eden, Risk V Reward, Progression and the sadistic joy of knowing that scrub you just blew up... is seriously mad brah... pretty much every vehicle pilot after AV ganks
What do my fellow lurkers think about features we should see in Nova
For me,
On ship or dock CQC battles.. where EVE plebs get consequences... Along with multiple City socket Planetary Conquest battles... And a full list of weapon, suit and vehicle variants With a large coke...
What else do we need

Double jump: You jump once, press the jump button again whilst in mid-air, and a pair of jump jets lifts you higher.
Planetside 2 has actual Jump Jets, a mini jetpack, really, but only on the light assault suits.

They said lights would be the only one to use the double jump, but what if other frames could have some kind of benefit as well? Like, mediums could have 2 seconds of a constant thrust, so they could move an extra inch or two in the X coordinate, but can't go any higher or lower until the Jets run out of use for that one jump, and heavies would get a glide features. Similar to mediums, but you slightly lose altitude. I dunno.

It's been four months and we still don't have confirmation that Nova will become an actual game (what's there to worry about ). I take some comfort knowing the forums are still up, but not much. You also are not the only one concerned this game may be a COD goon, seems to be a formula many companies are taking lately. I would like to see vehicles and bigger maps in the new game also. I hope the new game does'nt lose the depth that made me love Dust so much too.

Gone will be all the joy from carefully budgeting your SP. Gone will be investing into just a few suits and specialising in them. From the sounds of just wanting to create 'a game that is immediately fun to play', they will be appealing to the lowest common denominator.
I reckon it will just be a cool, albeit dissatisfying, DUST-themed lobby shooter.

I for one would like dynamic movement in Nova, double jump, sliding, the whole nine yards, it would make for much more fun and enjoyable gameplay and it would also take a lot more skill (unlike myofib jumping)

I reckon it will just be a cool, albeit dissatisfying, DUST-themed lobby shooter. Gone will be the 80mil sp scrub fighting vs the 2 mil sp scrub. Gone will be the "can I haz sp reset??!" spam. Gone will be the "there's just too many variables to actually balance everything!!" problems.
As much as I like a trade-off between speccing into 1 thing vs speccing into a variety of roles, the sp system (and most leveling systems in general) are quite bad and just lead to imbalanced/boring battles.
If they do implement something I'd rather it be along the lines of MAG/LoL... Neither of which got it quite spot on, but at least they have some possibility of balance, with a point at which every player can can catch up and there isn't the infinite grind, which renders any specialization null and void. |

From what I saw of the FF demo it looked ok.
They were focusing on good tight gameplay, which most of us have been after for a while.
The problem is if that comes at the expense of risk v reward, however as you should know D1CK skill should also be rewarded ( little noobie D1CK running around in his scout suit knifing people - made bitter D1CK we see before us ) not just twitch skills but tactical gameplay for single players or co ordinated groups.
tldr for Sunday morning coffee drinkers - who knows what it'll turn out like but the game isn't even green lit yet and aliens are more communicative than the devs at the moment.
Welcome to Dust. The bitter, salty taste is a feature just like the lag.

One of my favourite features in Dust, was the Sensitivity setting... From 0-100... you were slow to turn 180.. Compared to COD or BF 360 no scopes... this was a good feature...
Leaving the bambinos like Nicololololol without an advantage... even though he had ate spinacci for dinner, and loaded up on Pringles and energy drinks. Twitch shooters can be entertaining... but really tacky imho

I'll second that... Positioning becomes a little pointless when someone can turn so fast that they might as well have just shot out their arse... Super clones they may be, but while they have legs, their ability to turn should be limited by them. |

I can buy that much more than super Mario bros. blue koolaid pills that makes your quads the size of tree trunks.
