I will be downloading Eve for the first time
Is the there a learning coalition or Eve university type corp I can join there?
Hopefully there is as I would need some guidance starting out

If your spending any money at all on something called a core starter pack, you're gonna do reeeaaal well in EVE. Yeah, you'll need to join a training corp before you get scammed into oblivion.
Eve is called a sandbox game. I like to think "sandbox" is another word for "don't buy ocean front property in Arizona".
Join EVE University and for ready made small ship pvp with good players willing to train, join Red vs. Blue.
I will give you some big survival tips:
Do not pay anybody in order to join a corp.
Do not take contracts in low/null sec space.
Watch out where the decimal point is on money listings on contracts and other money transactions. For example, if I say I'm going to sell you an expensive ship for only 1 million isk and then you see the price listed as 10000000 isk, do you think that is correct?
Do not take from a stranger's cargo container.
Do not accidentally put thngs into your container after someone has flipped it by popping their own container and placing your stuff in theirs.
Do not forget to upgrade your clone to the appropriate skill point level and don't forget to replace your clone after getting podded.
DO NOT TRY TO JOIN GOONSWARM IN ANY WAY OTHER THAN JOINING AND BEING AN ACTIVE POSTER ON THE SOMETHING AWEFUL FORUMS.

EVE Uni (starting point at least)
No need for an account to read forum threads.
If you've never played EVE, I would suggest sticking to the intro tutorials and starter missions that those tutorials will walk you through. EVE is (or can be) overwhelming. Tutorials will run you through basic gameplay to include simple NPC combat and how to tell friendlies from hostiles; looting; mining and processing ore to sell on the market; gate jumps from system to system; security space; and will get you started on a series of mission arcs to push you further into space and away from your starter system. Rewards are decent for those missions as they should give you a slight boost in SP gain (if memory serves).
Learn the basics, then look at your starter corp chat. There will be a lot of info there too, and experienced players hanging out to help in one way or another. Keep an eye for corps that seem interesting to branch out if you like then.
Just my humble 0.02ISK.
Really though, people are all going to dump their opinions of what is or is not important and may lead you one way or another that may not be where you want to go. So unless you already have friends that you can join up with, I say shove your fingers in your ears for a few days until you get a handle on the interface and basic controls. Then expand from there as you learn the lingo.
Also, SP in EVE is different. Skill training is passive as opposed to the active gains you experienced in DUST. In EVE, if you want to learn a skill you just start it. It will tell you how much time is needed to complete it. 5 minutes, 10, 2 hours, 30 days, or whatever depending on your stats, the skill specialty, and the level being trained. Just keep an eye of what skills are required for whatever it is you want to do or use. That way you can plan a roadmap without wasting your time dropping it all into mining if you just want to PVP. Or whatever.
