The other day I bought an Aurum Pack and didn't use any of it because I was still trying to get a hang of the game and today I decided to make a new character and delete my old one, then I log in and see all my Aurum gone! Come on CCP, I thought you said Aurum was on an account level, not character level, all I wanted was to spend my Aurum on some stuff today and be happy but I have none. Please help. and yes I still have my receipt. |

Well the aurum and the isk and the material should be on account level not character. Or at least give us a safe to put our stuff. It is not like in eve online where you pay a fee here isk and aurum cost real money! |

You can always count on CCP for tracking a lot of transactions, even on a market as complex as Eve Online's market. They have the experience. Be thankful this is only AUR related and it was simple to trace. Sometimes when players had their accounts hacked, either because they were the victim of an real-world and illegal RMT ring they participated in or one of their friends shared their password, they usually ended up having their assets cleaned out by being quickly sold into the market for ISK and then have the ISK transferred to another character thus leaving the victim's character empty and starting from the beginning. Worst case scenario is that the character gets sold into the "Character Bazaar" (a CCP-sanctioned market) where other player pay ISK for those high-skilled characters.
CCP usually tracks the transactions very deep into the market to retrieve as much ISK and assets as they can. They can easily undo characters being sold off into the Bazaar. However, if the assets have exchanged multiple hands to the point that undoing/reversing the transactions would gravely affect the market and too many players at once (some of which could be innocent buyers) then CCP will only be able to retrieve so much before they have to give up and turn in to the victim what they found.
The Eve players have usually reported that CCP has given back to them between 60-80% of the assets they lost. But of course, this is only from the players who took the time to post on the forums about their petitions as most petitions don't usually get publicly displayed by the players that made them.
Overall, CCP can be trusted to get your stuff back if...
1. Your account got hacked and cleaned out. 2. You made a grave mistake with your account (like you just did). 3. etc.
They have the experience and the logs. There is nothing in the market that doesn't get tracked. Even the ships we fly in Eve have a secret record attached to them showing CCP who flew what and when along with what fitting they used and what was in the cargo hold. All this was out of necessity as the RMT rings were having a negative effect on the in-game market and the player base. That and to try to idiot-proof the system to prevent the character owners from doing something stupid with their own accounts. |
