The connection between the Merc's and the Capsuleers severed and Dust 514's contribution to the history of New Eden will end. While for 3 years, 4 months and 16 days my Eve character, Dennie Fleetfoot has been CEO of DUST University since the connection to TQ was established on January 10th 2013, it has been my Dust Merc, Kevall Longstride, who first downloaded the game on May 17th 2012 that has been for many, their first point of contact in New Eden. In those four years, an estimated 10,000 Merc's have gone through DUST University, the wiki pages I wrote detailing the games depths, viewed hundreds of thousands of times and thanks to the limitations of the mail client within the game I've had to post over a million emails from the Eve client to Dust Merc's to give them the help that the games own New Player Experience lacked. For the last two years I've had the honour of being a member of The Council of Planetary Management. Elected by Dust Players, I've worked with the team in CCP Shanghai both on Dust 514 and the upcoming Project Nova, CCP's new PC FPS game set in the New Eden universe. So really while we say goodbye to Dust 514 its really more a farewell. The Merc's may be dormant for a while but as Obi Wan once said, 'They'll soon be back and in greater numbers' and at a consistent 60 frames a second. I've had the great pleasure of meeting many of you at Fanfest. I've listened to your stories, feedback and concerns. You have no idea just how much of them has been relayed back to Shanghai. As for DUST University, its not going anywhere. It'll still be here in Eve Online, as will I. So that when Nova arrives there will be a place for new players to make a start. It has been an enjoyable, frustrating, thrilling and emotional roller coaster running the largest training corp in Dust 514. I've spend over 2000 hours playing the game and running the corp via Eve Online and many more on top of that doing my CPM duties. I'd like to thank all of the players that have helped me over the years and you are all more than welcome to join in again. Hopefully this time with better corp tools and UI.... I have never regretted a single second of it and will continue with Project Nova. Till then my Space and Bunny friends.... Ah well, I'll just have to wait for Nova now, and hopefully a port to PS4. I don't know that my admittedly fairly good laptop would handle it.

It's taken most of a year out of my life, a year spent trying to catch up on the years I missed since I first saw it with the Beta. I think I sort of got there, but I could have gotten so much further if I had the opportunity. After a year of more or less solid playing, to have it now yanked from my life so brutally is quite traumatic. I even miss the things I hated about it!
