Why not give EvE Online a try? Yes, it's a subscription service but you can sign up for a trial of 10 days free of charge and see if you like it. It's a slow start - much slower than Dust! But for some of you, particularly the DS pilots, you might find something there you like. At least it will be something to pass the time while you're waiting, and who knows you might even like it! :)
For those who are worried their PC isn't up to it, you can dial down the graphics so there's no lag. With EvE, the PC is just presentation, all the real processing happens on the servers.
Why not give it a go? |

Fair enough. "Spaceships" are more for the dropship pilots anyway. But there's a social side to EvE that's basicly identical to that of Dust, and a lot more richness of content. EvE doesn't just have combat like Dust does. It has industry as well, and there are players who specialise in that, only using "spaceships" to get around, not for actual combat.
Add to that the corporate atmosphere, and you have a real alternate experience. No stylised 16v16 battles, everything is open season for combat, and the industry makes it truly a complete alternate universe.
Edit:
The free trial is 14 days, not 10, as I originally wrote. I haven't actually had a free trial in something like 6 years, so I'd forgotten.
The 21 days (3 weeks) is by buddy program invitation. |
