Also, how will the "reward" be tracked to the player? Will we get a transfer code of some kind to keep safe? Cause currently we log in through Playstation Network, and not the CCP systems.
I'm not asking "what" the reward will be, cause that's like asking what shape a cloud will be tomorrow. Our accounts and their characters are held on the Tranquillity server. It's only a matter of matching the accounts with the players. You're right, we log in through PSN, but there has to be a match between the PSN ID and the EvE ID for that to work. The email address will be all that's necessary to send a unique passcode to everyone to allow them to log in to the EvE system and therefore Nova.
It's all doable. Whether CCP chooses to or not is another matter. |

Luna McDuffing wrote:This was supposed to be explained after fan fest but to this date and as far as I know there haven't been any explanation. I this point I don't expect an explanation either. Me and my corp will do one last hoorrah this weekend not for the game but for our friendship.
I don't mind that they ended the game since that was bound to happen and it makes business sense. I also appreciate the communication up until then. CCP however has abandon us in regards to moving forward. They wined us and dined us, said a couple of pretty words but, once the hotel stay was over they didn't even call us a taxi. What?? Why was it "bound to happen"?? That's not the way it's happened with EvE. There was nothing "bound to happen" in my mind. Yes, they would have to move from platform to platform, but they didn't need to put an end to Dust, they could have ported it. But they chose not to, which I think is extremely shortsighted. CCP's choices are just mindbogglingly stupid to me. The first rule of business is to always keep the customer happy. Trying to win a customer back after you've p!ssed them off is very much harder than keeping them happy in the first place.
CCP either thinks they are going to do something really amazing with Nova to win us back, or they don't really care what happens and have already written us off. Their behaviour is just disgusting. |

LOL KILLZ wrote:After the way this game has been handled here in the end times I'm starting to regret paying for a subscription to EvE Don't regret it. EvE is truly a great game which CCP actually did and continues to do really well. There are many issues still with it, not the least being the way they continually compromise the game for the benefit of splinter groups and vocal minorities. However, compared with Dust, EvE Online is beautiful, and seriously an extremely accomplished game.
CCP have handled Dust extremely badly in my opinion, and their Dust players abysmally. That will be a taint on them for a very long time. But at least EvE will likely continue as a worthwhile game. |

I'm not asking "what" the reward will be, cause that's like asking what shape a cloud will be tomorrow. 1. Your data (all of it) is stored on CCP's main server which is the exact same server where Eve Online operates in. So you can rest assured that the data will still be there in the server even after shutdown. It's just going to be in cold storage until CCP decides what to do with it. 2. CCP has your email, I assume. They might be able to work with that if there is any possibility that your character name can be preserved for the PC platform. 3. CCP made no mention on how the rewards will be given and what they are. Until then, we are in the dark as usual. Yes, all of that is correct.
As for the email, even if CCP wouldn't have the email, PSN does. But it's just a matter of getting a list of emails against PSN IDs from Sony and the EvE account can be matched up with the email address. The account email address is also stored on the EvE account.
I can't see why the character names can't be preserved. They are stored on the EvE account, just like any other EvE characters. All EvE accounts have three characters associated with them, so our Dust accounts are really no different. Same with the first and last name, race, bloodline, etc.
I like your last statement. So true. :) |
