He created a world for all of us to live in. For us to make the most of. To use as we saw fit. But we abused it. We didn't deserve what we were given. It had all the potential imaginable, but we wasted it. Munson is not pleased.
Or maybe it was inherently flawed. Perhaps it was doomed from the start and there is nothing we could have done to save it. The issues may have cut too deep for even Munson to correct.
I will not claim to know why what happened here happened. It just did. Maybe there was something we as a group could have done or maybe there was not even the slightest chance that we could have done anything. All I can say is I wish it had gone differently. What we all witnessed here was the possibility of something great that never came to fruition. It really is a shame.
But it isn't all bad. While it can be considered a colossal failure, and it surely will by many, there is still much to take away. When you walk away from all of it, you will have nothing to show for it. Not a thing. All that you worked for, all that you achieved, all that was once yours and familiar to you in this place will be gone and it will never come back. But that is true of everything in the end, no?
Moments. Memories. These are all that matter. The physical things of this realm will cease to exist and they will not matter: they never did. So, while there will be nothing to show, there will be much to tell. Moments like these.
(Capital Acquisitions corp chat, December 2013) Silver: We can't even say "Jew"? Shep: No. MyTime: What the ****? Why? Shep: It's offensive. Scrapper: To who? Kalash: Jews. MyTime: But he just said it! Shep: That wasn't offensive. Scrapper: How is it offensive when we say it? Shep: You use it as an insult. Silver: Of course it's offensive. We all say offensive things. This is a video game. So what? Shep: There are kids here. Ashley: KIDS!?! Shep: Yes, kids. So, just don't say anything offensive here in corp chat. You can do whatever you want outside of here. MyTime: Okay my *****, RIP corp chat. (RIP Corp Chat)
(Late 2013 or early 2014) MyTime: Silver, you missed it! Silver: What happened? MyTime: I was in an ambush with Munson and our team was getting totally wrecked. I mean, I wasn't getting wrecked but our team was. Silver: Then what? MyTime: Okay, okay, then Munson started yelling at our squad to get on the pipes. Then we lost. This ***** was straight losing his mind. It was the funniest **** ever. Silver: Praise the pipes. MyTime: Praise Munson. (Munson is revealed to be God)
(Shortly after) Silver: So, I hear you like pipe, Munson. God: What did you say to me? Silver: Praise the pipes. Jesus: Shut the **** up! Silver: Praise Munson. The Holy Ghost: I'm going to come to your house and punch you in the face!! Kalash: Oh! Silver: 707. (Munson blocks me)
(Around the same time) Silver: If I offered you a bucket of grees or a pail of grees, which one would you chose? Shep: Grease? Silver: Yeah, grees. NoNeck: Why the **** would I want a bucket of grease? Silver: So, you pick the bucket? NoNeck: No, I'm asking why I would want grease. Silver: There are lots of things you can do with grees. Shep: Like what? Cook? Silver: Sure. Shep: Okay, I guess the bucket. NoNeck: Yeah, I'd pick the bucket. Silver: Why? Shep: Because it's bigger. Silver: Are you sure? NoNeck: Yes, fuckface, a bucket is obviously bigger than a pail. Silver: I know some people that would strongly disagree with that. Shep: Okay, so what's the correct answer? Silver: It doesn't matter; they're the same thing. (I am forever associated with grees)
(January 2015) NoNeck: Then I told him we were going to take everything he had and he started calling me a little ***** and a ragequitter. Shep: **** him. Alias: Let's take everything he has, then. Shep: Oh, we will dude. (A little later in a PC battle) Silver: Shep, are you getting in the dropship. Shep: Huh? Oh, yeah, sorry. Silver: Hurry, I need to farm points from the rings by shooting at dropships with my swarm launcher with zero resistance. Shep: Hold up, there's a dropship heading to our home point. You ready? Silver: No, I'm in an AV commando, I'll get wrecked. (With little help we fend off Roman's fleet at homepoint) Silver: They got wrecked. (We defeat the greatest march on the pocket ever seen and claim victory)
Chorus: lolromansboat, lolcp, lolccp, lolmassattack, lolceasefire, etc.
(A few important entities from Cap disappear for a while) Silver: It looks like Shep, Kalash, and MMG aren't going to be around for a while, so I guess I'll be in charge for a while. Operator: And we will continue the carebearing that Shep started, right? Silver: Nope. Alias: Sweet. Can we attack GAM? Silver: We sure can. We'll attack all of these corps. Alias: Flips? Silver: Yep. Alias: 449? Silver: 450. (I take a lot of districts from a lot of bad corps)
(November 2015) Munson: We're going to go look for ******* minors! (and) Munson: There's only really one good thing in life I'm at and that's pretty much in the bed. Silver: Oh my God is this real!?! (Fin)
Moments, memories, and the people you share them with. That's what it all comes down to. That's what we're all going to remember when the servers shut down in a week. Any other event or circumstance really doesn't matter too much now. There will be a PC version of Dust 514 eventually, but as individuals I think must of us are a little too far gone for that to matter and as a community I know we are. I will deeply miss this game and I will always remember the good times I had here.

Cracks me up bro. You feel that? That feeling you describe as "wish it had gone differently" and "maybe it was doomed"? That's you, deep down, realizing that things could have been different had you behaved differently about them.
I liked you dude. I never realized how much disregard you actually held for me though, even after how what happened happened, until I read your line up there about "carebearing" which I guess is my fault. And I get it, it makes sense.
You didn't feel I was up to par, not prao enough to be cool with. And then when Shepherd brought us into a channel to tell me about his planning to put you as CEO I, a lowly negative kdr logiscrub "***** work" guy, dared to question that decision because you had been ratting out FA for us for months, since back when we had left Tso's. Could we trust you? I asked. You totally just sold out people you called friends, is it wise to make you CEO? I asked. And you remember this, you were there. While I was asking because these were my first questions at hearing this news for the first time I was also asking because you were there. Nothing hidden. No bs, no alts, no "agenda" just honest open dialogue trying wrap my head around the idea. I get it. It pissed you off. More than I guess I thought it might, although even though they would be upsetting questions I HAD to ask. To not would have been to lie to you, to Shep and to *myself*.
What you probably don't know is that after having that convo with Shep and you and sleeping on it I followed up with Shep the next day and told him flat out, " I trust your judgement." And continued to give you whatever support I could. Only to begin to find over time that that support was being returned by more and more baseless criticism and rumormongering about what I was doing at the time.
I couldn't join a squad without some random newhire saying some trash about, "elOPERATOR, I heard you're selling us out to Mexicans". And no matter how many times I explained myself as much as was warranted for every one I answered 5 more of the same nagging would pop up. The leadership channels were abandoned by you and the others so if I had a question or needed to coordinate something there were no resources. The district timers were being ****** with, locked etc. On and on.
Oh and that meeting? That would have been the same meeting you were brought up to speed about that "carebearing". That "carebearing" that was ultimately monikered as Parks and Recreations. This carebearing:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2703610#post2703610
But to still, STILL dismiss it as "carebearing" is... **** dude, I don't know wtf that is. Anyone who was paying any sort of attention to MH at that time and couldn't see what was going to happen was either 1) A ****** 2) a child 3) an *******. Or some combination of the three.
For those unaware, PandR was the product of CAP being ridiculously heavy on districts we couldn't defend. We were mass-attack stackbait. All day, every day. And when we were stacked they were shitshows. Wins here, losses there and overall just a huge pita. And in the background was the looming certainty that Rattati/CCP were going to redo the PC rules on behalf of the QQPC crowd to make it easier for them to enter. So I had an idea. Yes, it was my idea and I discussed it with Kalash, with Aerrow Nova (fellow CAP directors at the time) and Shepherd. Real basic idea- Just give that **** away. They were like, idk, busted up cars on the front lawn. A bigger hassle and liability than they were worth.

Don't be jell about the actual facts of the rise and fall. Sustained growth for over a year and less than a month after I split the joint went into decline because, y'know, pewpew = management ability.
A gay story would be your reboot attempt with the moneyshot of CAP bukkaked right off the map. How's that for realness?

I get it dude, I too hate when a muthafucka won't stfu in the car.
My life fades, my vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos, ruined dreams, this wasted land. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. Good brave men were battered and smashed. I wandered out into the wasteland, and here would learn, amid the dark wreckage, that the fire which burns in the heart of man, will endure.
