What will happen to our characters and names after shutdown?

There are few conceivable possibilities. - They will stay in existence (viewable in Eve) but only as monuments to our past lives - They will be deleted and names will become available for new characters (in Eve). Scary! - They will exist until the possibility of Project Legion/Nova but names freed at that point - CCP creates a way to confirm thru PSN our account, and creates a password system on their own servers for us to prove our Dust account ownership for the future Sour level over 9000. KERO-TRADER is my official Eve character for Dust trading.

It's a valid assumption from us, but still an assumption. A confirmation would be nice. I honestly don't know the current plan is but it's obviously been discussed in the past. Running servers for a game to run on it expensive, storing data from said game not so much. I'm personally confident our characters will be safely stored in the short and medium term. Just have to make sure that Frame doesn't go near it while drinking Quafe. He's a messy eater. My guess would be if we login with our email that we signed up to dust with and put in our char name then it'd allow us to use the same character name and pickup the rewards we're due. Alena Asakura Rogue Clones Yulai Federation 1005	Posted - 2016.05.23 21:19:00 - [10] - Quote A logical approach would be to keep the names and characters and allow them to be used in ANY of CCP's games - they're on Tranquility anyway, and in the same database as others who play EvE, etc. It should be possible to allow them to be used as EvE capsuleers, for example. While the approach seems to have been in the past to keep character names exclusive to each game, I don't see any good reason they can't be used across games. This way, those same characters could then be used in Nova. There must be some plan to do something like this in any case, in order to honour the commitment to player rewards from Dust. Also as an added bonus, EvE characters could then appear in Nova, and vice versa. Existing Dust characters could also train as capsuleers on payment of an EvE subscription. The only detail that would need to be covered is some sort of flag on each account to indicate whether that account was an active EvE account. Likewise for other games. Games which required subscriptions would require that the account was active in that game by payment of a subscription. I have never seen the need to keep the accounts separate between games. I think this was just a choice to keep it simple for CCP, but in reality has made it harder because of the need to therefore have many more accounts than are necessary. You will have noticed that each account has three characters - this is an EvE database thing, as every EvE account has three characters. It should be possible for any EvE character to also be active in any other game running with Tranquility as its database. I would certainly be happy to see my EvE main, Nalianna, active in Nova or Valkyrie and I can't see why she couldn't be.

It was also kinda reliant on Dust being a much bigger success than it was. I'm sure that in CCP's wettest of dreams, this would be their ultimate goal. But let's first get three decent games in the same universe working first shall we Nah, not likely me. If I can't have my EvE main Nalianna in Nova I likely won't bother - I'll just go back to EvE. I'll give Nova a try of course, but I would expect to see this character, Alena Asakura, in Nova to get my "loyalty rewards". If even that doesn't happen, I don't know that I'll be interested. CCP seems to be discounting this whole issue as a non-issue, but I'm sure there are people like me who really do want to continue using their Dust chars in Nova.

"Tiered rewards" have been mentioned as part of Nova which means that some form of them would have to exist until them. The inferences that we can draw from the info we have is definitely positive.
