Made a thread a while back asking if being good at games makes them boring, so now I'm asking if having experienced a unique FPS make all of them dull, or are other games actually dull and repetitive. It's kind of a experiment type, if you had never played DUST514, do you think you'd find other games easier to get into & stick with or nah?

Or is this a testament to the gaming industry that should get more looking into? Yeah that makes sense.

IMO there should be more games like this with the social & i guess economic type building blocks within the FPS, with lore, risk v reward in place, when you lose something expensive you've actually felt like you've actually lost something expensive (proto vehicles, decked out dropsuits). And a SOLID SOCIAL part so micless players like me can still participate in competitive PC.

TLDR, does DUST514 shlt on every other FPS (in some ways) or no?

There is plenty of room in the market, and most game players stables for shallow games. If the experience is solid, and the gameplay well crafted, even a short experience can be a worthwhile experience.

The question of how the depth of dust has affected its players is an interesting one, although I wonder what percentage of dusties were here because the game was free, and how many game for the constructs CCP established. For those who came for the promises of depth and permanence, there is little on the market, and looking down the road, companies aren't really interested in that type of gameplay model.

As someone who came for the depth and the complexity, I am fortunate that I also game on PC, so I have access to great games of depth, although an FPS isn't in that group anymore.

On the whole, I don't find a shallow game to be a bad thing, because lets be honest, especially with F2P games, most of the depth is an illusion to support the grind barriers.

I agree. Dust certainly has the longevity but I have had equally enjoyable experiences in other games, even if not for the same reasons or for as long. So I don't think Dust has ruined games for me, but it certainly has some advantages and disadvantages as compared to other games.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy repetitive non lore type shooters and completely different types of games just the same. Just that Attache worded it better and wondering what other Dusters think about experience wise.

Nope, I enjoy fps just the same. I didnt enjoy the fps of dust as much as I enjoyed the community and interconnection of the game, skills, fittings etc. The shooting was always bun squad.
