Nvidia GPUs are trash; you're better off with whatever came with your Alienware PC.

Well, if console market wasn't so stupid to build a "unerpowered" machine in first place I would agree with you: like playstation 2, which was abnormally more powerful than a gaming PC back then. We'll see what happens with the ps4k rumors: if it really has those rumored capability it really has the potential to be a "new" playstation 2, without even considering that I literally love to play competitive games on consoles, just because the whole community is on par.
For now, anyway, it is way more convenient to build your own PC with a decent CPU and the new 1070/1080 or the new Polaris 10.

Edit
Actually it would be even better to wait a while and see what AMD Polaris can do.
We all know that tech companies tend to hold things back in favor of selling several intermediate steps in between and getting the most profit possible and I think the jump from the Titan X to the 1070 and 1080 are major proof of this.
Nvidia has decided to skip a step or two on the ladder for two reasons in my opinion.
AMD is REALLY stepping their game up. Before they were some what just perceived as the budget alternative that stayed just a little behind. A huge new influx of some R&D cash from some very well orchestrated licensing deals and some amazing things to come on the CPU / APU side is putting them right back in place as a threat to being on top of the market.
Oculus Rift, HTC Thrive, and the other VR headsets are pushing high end PCs back into the spot light. It's sort of funny how the founder of Oculus Rift said, "It is everyone's crappy PCs is what is really holding virtual reality back" and people of all levels of interest took that as a challenge to buy shiny new PCs. The new price points that we are seeing is just an effort to make that mentality as mainstream as possible.
Personally I will be waiting for the AM4 boards and the Zen processors to hit late this year / early next year but on the GPU side I am becoming very torn as to what my path will be. Due to price points and the supposed specs I am seriously considering going with 2 GTX 1080s for a nice solid future proofed setup but it is still just not the time to decide.
I really wish AMD would push out AM4 already as I am itching to upgrade my PC but do not want to be stuck with last gen hardware only a few short months down the road. |

My tower needs a revamp so I'll wait, but I'm going Intel as always. I don't multi task or do any video or graphic editing so there is no need for me to go insane. I don't need the best out there to play a few games. I'm not running a 4k monitor either, or expect to ever.

Looks like some AMD Polaris are going to be "cheap" but still powerful enough.
