Turns out a Minmatar Scout with 3 complex Codebreakers Hacks Faster then a Scotsman's with 5 Complex Codebreaks.
The math in my head says the Scotsman's should have won.. (Minmatar Scout has 100% hack speed total, Scotsman's had 125% total)
...Oh well, math sucks anyways.
On to greener pastures.
I hope you guys are checking out all the new videos I have released, there have been a ton including sexy music videos and such that I hope you have no missed out on.

Did you take into account the MinScout's bonus to hacking speed?

Tldr: it seems there is an unstated stacking penalty to code breakers.
Now.. that's not how percentages work. 100% would mean an insta hack. 125% means the hack would be completed before you started hacking 0_o
The min scout also has an innate 10% (x0.9) bonus before skills where as the gal only has a 5% (x0.95)
If it takes 10 seconds (example only) to hack with full hack skill on any non-scout suit, then:
Min scout = 10s x 0.9 x 0.75 (min bonus) x 0.75 (1st CB) x 0.75 x 0.75 = 2.85s
Gal scout = 10s x 0.95 x 0.75 (1st CB) x 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.75 = 2.25s
If the scotsman (gal) with 5 code breakers is actually slower as you say, then there must be an unstated stacking penalty.

My understanding was that stacking penalties always applied. It is well known many of the descriptions are years out of date. I don't know of any mods that do not stack (though there may be some I don't use and am unaware of).
Did the OP take into account stacking penalties?

Any double entendre is unintended I assure you.

I was under the impression that they always had penalties too. Never actually check the description until today. |

As I understand it, the way it works is this:
Take a 10 standard 10-second hack. One Complex Codebreaker makes this 7.5 seconds. A second codebreaker doesn't make it 5.0 seconds; it makes it 5.625 seconds (25% of 7.5 = 1.875, 7.5 - 1.875 = 5.652). |

Yes. Multiplying sequentially by 0.75 is the same as calculating 25% of each result and subtracting it. The innate scout bonus and min scout bonuses are applied before codebreakers and without penalty.
Edit: In case anyone wants a citation for the innate hack bonus. http://cdn1.eveonline.com/community/forums/Stats_1_8_DropsuitsWeapons.xlsx |

These all seem like pretty solid theories, I was also contemplating whether there might be an unstated stacking penalty, but the other stuff is interesting as well.

As an aside, I believe my Caldari logis hack faster than either my scouts or my assaults. Is this an "undocumented feature"? |

These sorts of things always have a stacking penalty - it's the same in EvE - the way I work it, there's a maximum speed which you get closer to as you add modules. It's the same with damage mods and shield regulators, as well, for the same sort of reason. |

guys, go into your inventory or to the marketplace, the basic kinetic catalyser has NO description.
none of the descriptions of what things do , or don't do, mean anything, they're all wrong. we have no idea because CCP have no idea.
