Why I'm still interested and excited for this game is literally beyond me. Anyways.
It seems like people are fairly split between whether or not our lifetime SP should in any way transfer over to the new game. So I was thinking, why not have an Accelerated SP pool equal to your lifetime SP at shutdown?
So if I have 70 Million SP, my first 70 Million SP in the new game will be acquired 50% faster. This gives vets a meaningful reward for all the time and money they've spent here, but requires them to play the game just like anyone else in order to get back to where they were.
Thoughts?

This same idea has been brought up and shot down like a dozen times in the last few months. It's a new game so start over, and stop crying please. You should at best expect vanity items, but don't be childish or neck beard enough to expect them to derail another game so that we can have what is an entirely unfair advantage from the start of a new game. I can tell you right now a corp full of accelerated SP would dominate any planetary conquest environment after just a single month playing let alone anything similar to a public contract.
Understand that earlier on the SP gaps are magnified if the game is similar to this or EVE. A 10 million SP character here is light years ahead of a 5 million SP. However, a 90 million SP is not that different from a 120 million toon. When the assault rifle was the only gun a 6 million SP character could dominate PCs against the 3 million crowd just by having that small an advantage.
The reality is most of us don't even want a transfer of anything that might destabilize the new game, and creating an elite class in a competitive FPS is a sure fire way to do just that.

How about no SP bonuses because we don't need it and don't want to alienate the new playerbase?
All I want is a cosmetic thing showing I was a Dust player, and for our starter corp to be named "Project Dust Test Subject".
That way we have a way of showing that we were dust players, and get a nice little skin out of it.

Anyone with money will have the exact same 50% SP advantage I proposed if things stay as is, so if this is gamebreaking then aren't boosters as well?
This is CCP we're talking about, at BEST I expect a pointless cosmetic item like a fluffy couch in my merc quarters.

This new game does seem like a long shot at best, but who knows. I've just been trolling around modding Fallout and messing around with Black Desert and Ark Evolved a little.
DUST always had a special place though, hopefully they pull their heads out of their asses and bring the game up to speed where it belongs.

An emblem like a five pointed star next to our name is what i want. I am not saying a cosmetic like a weapon camo or suit would not be nice also, but the emblem would be even cooler. It doesn't affect anything game play wise either. |

I'd rather everyone started a fresh with no SP and that boosters would be purchased with ISK or removed entirely.
I'm happy with keeping my character name, some sort of sigil next to our names, something to hang on my merc quarter wall or place on my coffee table and or be able to keep our paid for (with real money) BPO's to be used for manufacturing suits; in the same way Eve does it or have the BPO's converted into skins.

Won't all that go away with better matchmaking and game types? And if so, doesn't that in turn invalidate the concern that vets would have too much of an advantage with more SP early on?

a few and/or a lot sp tiered rewards is an advantage to the vet.
they get sp even a little is bad for the noobs, add that to their skill and experience,
and you have a lot of advantage against noobs, just kick their ass with skill and experience,
so you don't bruise their ego that much.

But what I'm saying is if everyone starts from 0 with no advantages, in 3-6 months they will have FAR more SP than a new player entering the game.
If this is game breaking at day one, why is it no longer game breaking 3-6 months in?

How about everyone from Dust gets -50%sp... Since we already have the advantage of playing in the "beta."
This way the noobies will have an advantage for a good few months and Dust vets get their show of appreciation via an sp reward.
But no, really... Leveling up needs to go the way of the dodo in multiplayer games, Just have a massive skill tree and give everyone the same limited amount of points to make a "personalised build." Then make your money nerfing flavour of the month builds and selling respecs.
isk should be the main difference, because it goes both up and down (if the design isn't horribly flawed) while sp can only really ever go up, meaning once an advantage is had, it stays.
edit - Heck why not have a minor boost to skills based on factional standings, give everyone a reason to fight for their faction, while mercs who don't give a ****, because they're fine without it can sell themselves on street corners to fight for the opposition.
And for gods sake, fix the friendly fire system! We should be allowed to kill each other, but give people a chance to fight back instead of having a system that gives the trolls a helping hand. |

I just want a couple things.
Like others mentioned I want to keep my name and also have some sort of emblem that lets people know I was a dust vet.
In addition to that I just want a 1 or maybe 2 week skill booster. I think 70 million SP of skill boosters sounds a little excessive lol. The type of people who have played that much are already going to be dropping money on this game on top of already being far more experienced then any new player. Like others have said, we dont want to scare newbies away because of pandering to the elite audience.
On the other hand I put many hundreds of dollars into Dust 514 and im pretty sure i was on the lower end of that spectrum, soooooo I really dont think being given a token 1 or 2 week booster is too much to ask for.
Other than tthat..... maybe just a couple vanity items? Like a single basic assault BPO or something like that would be nice.
Nothing excessive. Just a pat on the back here and there for being as committed as we were/are today.

Sorry, but there is no way bringing over the immense Dust SP gap into a new game is a good idea.
The NPE was the worst part of Dust and this is a chance to start fresh. Dust vets won't need an advantage in new game. Keep the dust vet rewards to cosmetics, or consumables.

Yet again, this is totally fine. However, if this is such an issue at day one, why is it no longer an issue 3-6 months in when Vets dominate the meta and have boosted SP all filled out.
Why do new players at day one suffer but it's totally ok for new players a little further in?

mentione few times i'd like to see rewards based on achievements in game, so mordus private trial beta players get a mordus SKIN or perhaps a modified BPO or even a trophy for merc quarters, perhaps carry jara over and it could reward you with extra starting ISK, if you had the templar codes you get templar skins again, if you had the mystery code from the second decade box set you get a special skin. your loyalty rank level could reward a certain percentage of your lifetime sp back in the new game so 1% per loyalty reward so i'm loyalty 12 or 13 and have 110m sp so if i link my account i get 14m sp to start me off in the new game (if they keep similar structure)
or instead of sp it grants additional starting isk.

So, no. I expect my stuff to carry over as best as possible. Especially as they were happy to lead us on to believing it would for years now, which was used deliberately to deceive people into investing into their characters for the long haul.
This is a positive and endearing message brought to you by Himi.
