It feels a bit generic to be part of any race but it does still have that sort of New Eden feel to its design. Also portability device feels like a code word for the new version of the teleportation stuff that we tested under special contracts.
My guess is that the trailer for the "new game" is coming together nicely. |

Then again the new EVE Combat suits are all very similar looking yet have a racial affiliation....and they certainly look nothing like the Dropsuits of DUST.
I do hope they don't move away from the general look and feel that the dropsuits and weapons had in DUST. I think if anything, how they portrayed each race in the infantry assets was one of the greatest triumphs of DUST. Hopefully they won't abandon that.
I agree on keeping a pretty firm feel for each race but equipment wise I think Dust got a little hurt by trying to bind every little thing to a race.
If you look at things like mobile depots, mobile tractor, planetary customs offices, and many other things in Eve they are all pretty generic and not bound to any race because they simply do not need to be. This design actually reminds me a little bit of some of the design aspects in some of those items. |

Honestly one of my frustrations with Dust was having the Equipment not just follow racial themes, but also be bound to racial suits. It makes NO sense whatsoever that the Minmatar Logistics suit is the only one that gets a bonus to remote-repair, for example. One of the things this game could have benefited from is more general bonus sets where they were applicable, such as with equipment that is essential to all 4 races.
Yep.
I advocated for general efficiency bonuses to equipment across all races for logi suits while the race specific bonuses would come in the form of PG/CPU meaning any logi could have been great with any equipment but a race specific logi could do it for a longer time without running out of equipment thanks to being able to carry more of that equipment type.
I seriously hope CCP learned a valuable lesson from matches just getting dumped on by a lack of equipment after bandwidth and after messing up the bonuses. |

I seriously hope CCP learned a valuable lesson from matches just getting dumped on by a lack of equipment after bandwidth and after messing up the bonuses. Personally I never had issue with Bandwidth. It meant being a fully skilled Logistics player more valuable, and it significantly reduced the amount of in-match lag caused by piles of equipment in strategic areas. I think Bandwidth would have pissed off a lot less people if it weren't for the fact that that just meant you were even more restricted only to gear you got bonuses for. Essentially the only useful Logistics as far as direct support was Minmatar, unless you needed 3-second uplinks, in which case you went Amarr with the FW-exclusive uplinks.
I did not personally have an issue with it either it was just the fact that it was implemented with very little description and not full mechanics which screwed over newbie logis and generally left the filed lacking in deployment ability and ammo ability.
Overall I agreed with the concept just not the implementation. |
