Hello,
So, I've begun using efficiency ratings now to help me decide to attack or run for my life and I feel this has helped my gameplay. However, the efficiency information is small and not located really close to center of screen where your crosshair is. This presents a problem as it takes some time to try and read information about a target and I've gotten myself killed multiple times just trying to read the information and figuring out if it's worth it to try and attack.
So my recommendation is this: have the reticle change color when you move it over a target to indicate how efficient you are. Maybe use a stoplight color scheme (green=killable, yellow=maybe, red=unlikely).
What do you guys think? Is this possible? You could maybe set your efficiency ranges corresponding to a given color in the options (or turn it off completely for those that don't like it). I think this would really help balance the game. |

That a pretty new and intuitive sounding idea to me and good on you for paying attention to efficiencies.
Just bear in mind most weapons are pretty heavily weighted to doing against against one type of HP (either shields or armour) and usually suffer against the other. So you might initially have a green rating if you are attacking a shield dropsuit with a scrambler rifle but then a red rating once you start trying to damage their armour.
Also rather than a killable/unkillable rating system perhaps a
Green = Damage is Quite Effective Yellow = Damage is Neutral Red = Damage is Not Very Effective

Thanks for the feedback. I see it really as a way to balance the way Dust allows militia and proto gear players to play against each other in the same game/arena. To be honest, I'm not really a fan of this and I think many players would agree (not necessarily here in the forum) that it takes the game in a pay to win direction since these advanced suits can be bought with aurum.
However, since this is allowed, I think players (especially those running militia and standard gear) should be able to determine the type of gear others are running in the most efficient manner possible. |

I think a number based cue is better than the color of a reticle.
Perhaps damage numbers somewhere close to the crosshair.
As True said, we don't want people think an overpowered rail rifle is not going to be effective, or that you should put away your sidearm because of the efficiency, because most of the time that sidearm still kills.
Whatever happened to DS the Drunk Heavy anyway?
