What are the bugs/issues you want to make sure are fixed for the next game?

It shouldn't be a matter of fixing them as they are basically building a new game.
That being said, what I would hope they focus on not repeating are mistakes like poor frame rate, which some have confused with lag. Lag was rarely the true problem for me, but towards the end frame rate issues became even more pronounced. Hopefully they can write efficient enough code to prevent poor frame rates.
I also hope that they have a large enough team to address all the glitches bound to occur. Some of these have made the game frustrating for many, like invisible swarms.

Mine is really simple. It's that moment when....
"You need a breather to get your bearings so you pull over off the road into one of those Caldari Sockets. You don't know where you are, you're an Amarrian tourist just passing through to murder people you consider heathens, but you thank your lucky stars the Caldari are such good map makers.
So you boot up your NeoCom's built in map, a handy little app that pretty Civre girl at the help desk recommended to you, that happens to be linked to TacNet as well.
As the map boots up before your eyes you feel your stomach lurch. Your HAV's proximity sensors go haywire and then you realise to your abject horror the truth.
It was one big Caldari pitfall trap. Those cunning bastards had you figured out form the start. That pretty Civre was probably actually some Deitis hussy all a quivering for the margins she'll make on the scrap from your tank and your broken nanite infused body.
As you plunge down into the abyss, your doom rushing towards you as if by the machinations of some transcendental entity or law, you wonder how it came to this, would that Deitis ***** have let you off if you'd just paid for the corporate insurance premium package.... hell what would you have gotten for blending the the home an contents insurance with the life insurance....
Another life with her at your side flashes before you eyes the instant before your tank hits the deepest recess of the pitfall. It could be hell for all you know but in that instant the hull of the tank crumples inwards jagged pieces of metal pulping your face into something resembling that wheat by-product you ate for breakfast that morning."
Waves that dye the land gold.
Blessed breath to nurture life in a land of wheat.
A path the Sef descend drawn in ash.

@One Eyed King, Well they won't have legacy code as an excuse, but it's more just things that should 100% solved for the new game
@True, I like how they never solved that one and it just became "don't open your map in a socket, stupid!"

With that in mind I would say CCP needs to avoid implementing BPOs the way they did with Dust. The previous Dev team before Rattati took over found out the hard way that BPOs as they are now in Dust were a very bad idea. Worse still was how they distributed them to a lot of players out there. In my honest opinion, that was the biggest mistake in the game's development history as it meant that Dust's economy would never properly merge with Eve Online economy due to the nature of these BPO along with how AUR consumables were introduced and since Dust never had a manufacturing feature in place. It was a total mess along with CCP focusing so much on the link and being so overly concerned about how Dust will impact Eve Online that Dust suffered gravely when it came to progress. And it all started with those BPOs.
Another mistake CCP needs to avoid is focusing far too much on the Eve-FPS link and not enough on the rest of the game itself like they did with Dust.

As much as I want the broad horizon intergalatic warfare everyone is pining for I would accept with great happiness if the next CCPS (tm) was the exact same game save for
Full racial parity Competent netcode Easily traversed terrain Variety of maps, sockets, and modes.
I for one, while intrigued by the concept of an intergalatic political struggle with connectedness between space and ground warfare, am not adamant of it. I will take the quirks of DUST, with all the fillings and polish we didn't have access to on ps3.
Oh and bigger player count.
Why does Photon gear...we will never forget.

More diverse classes with bonuses and roles.
The missing racial vehicles; MCC's, LAV's, Derpships, Jets, Bombers, Tanks, Mech's and maybe one man hover bikes similar to Star Wars speeder bikes.
More diverse racial instillations including the ablity to orbital drop them at chosen placments upon the battlefield with WP's.
All "basic" racial weapon variants; meaning the missing racial HMG's e.g: Amarr Gatling Laser.
The Assault Rifle to be renamed as Plasma Rifle.
All weapon variations removed for a base weapon "frame" - Weapons would have their own fitting screens; which you could then fit them accordingly if you wanted them to be burst fire, fully-automatic, scoped, ammunition types etc.
All racial vehicle turrets.
A global district game mode similar to the size and scope of PlanetSide2 as promised at fanfest years ago, but for planetary factional warfare dominance.
Currently when Super Capitals in Eve get destroyed their "wreck" stays in space as a permanent feature until someone salvages it; have these wrecks be used as indoor maps to fight over the salvage spoils.
Either let us keep our paid for (with IRL money) BPO's, have them be used as exclusive rare skins or used like they are in Eve to be manufactured.
PVE content for solo or small squads as promised at fanfest - (NPC drones)
Resource gathering from PVE and or PVP; maybe using a repair tool or "hack" a dead clone would net you materials to melt down in the corporation warbarge to get the materials used for BPO production.
Open the door in our merc quarters to maybe a space station, our corporation warbarge or be used as a transition between our Dust > Eve accounts.
Have some sockets be used as planetary to orbital weapon batteries to maybe effect the battles raging above; be it PVE or factional PVP.
Give us a trophy for our merc quarters or veteran medallions on our dropsuits to show we have earned our stripes.
Have it so the loyalty rank also takes into account as to how old and active accounts have been, rather than how much RL money we have spent on the game.
Give all rewarded loyalty accounts closed alpha or closed beta codes for NotLegion.
Start everyone with fresh accounts (SP not carried over) to make a fare game for the thousands of people who will be trying out the game on day one and aren't getting proto stomped...... because we all know how that was in the early days!

That's all I can think of from the top of my head o7

You beat me to it. Fixing something implies that it is broken which can not be the case if it does not exist.
I hope they finally figure out how to use net code. Hit detection and lag thanks to the attempted server side system was just a pitiful failure in my opinion.
I also hope that this time they focus on copying some of the more successful aspects of Eve. With Dust it seemed like they totally overlooked everything from Eve and tried to guess and check their way through a new system.
The most fascinating parts of Eve never made it past being an idea for Dust. I hope that is not true in round 2. |
