You can find me on Steam as Maken Tosch. You'll know its me when you see my Eve Online profile pic which is similar to my Twitter profile pic. I think Draxus Prime is with me there.
I'm currently trying out Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to at least get my KB/M game on since I my handling of the KB/M is as rusty as the Scout Mk.0 I often run in.
After spending about 3 hours playing this game I can tell that there are some things in that game CCP can use as an example of what NOT to do in the New Eden FPS for PC.
What Not To Do: 1. Spawn us in the middle of nowhere with only an 8-second invulnerability only to find ourselves at the cross hairs of your enemy in a map that doesn't have any safe zone whatsoever. Hell even Splatoon on the WiiU has safe zones. 2. Create an inventory system that doesn't seem at all clear. Sure, Dust had problems with this too but at least in Dust I knew which weapon was my primary and secondary and what I had equipped along with that. In CS:GO you don't have that kind of clarity. At least not at first unless you read through the community tutorials. 3. Allow players to host their own servers. Seriously, it's bad with hackers these days who can control their own servers. At least in Dust the only cheats that were available were glitches that were deep in the game's legacy code and NO ONE hosted their own servers since CCP was the only host in control from beginning to end. It won't prevent serious cheaters, but it will make it very difficult for them. 4. Cause the game to crash to desktop. It's annoying.
What CCP Can Learn From CS:GO: 1. Weapons Range. Seriously, we need this. At least in CS:GO I was able to understand each weapon in a controlled environment and even test myself for the sake of self improvement. 2. Able to maintain 30 FPS on an average gaming rig. 3. Allow full customization of controls. Meaning I want to individually set a command for each button on my mouse, keyboard, joystick (if I was a derpship pilot), and controller (if I'm still into console controllers). This is something everyone and their grandma has been asking for since the dawn of time. There is no excuse for not having this level of flexibility especially now that the game is moving to the PC where it is standard practice to do so.

It's funny when I read this:
"This is in many ways an evolution of Project Legion, the concept we announced at EVE Fanfest 2014, but without the limitations of technical debt and development paths we quickly discovered in that effort that could never serve as a future-proof technology base for a full production game. . .GÇ¥

I died.
The playerbase stated all these things as reasons why Dust should have never been on PS3 to begin with. lol
Oh man....
CCP did right with a few things in Dust 514 though... Dust refined my gungame to the nth degree. Aiming in Dust was so hard, and so raw, starting from the closed beta... that when I went to play games like Battlefield, my aiming was on point, and my target acquisition speed was dramatically improved.
I picked up very good habits from Dust, in making better use of my environment, and travelling through my environment, AND using the environment instinctively in combat.
Once you got the hang of Dust... you DOMINATED everywhere else. With the only exception being Arma (which I find to be far harder than Dust).
So I would encourage CCP to keep the learning curve high, and the combat grueling. FORCE players to better their gungame... As a PC gamer, I look forward to my brethren struggling to learn how to aim in a game that punishes them for missing, like Dust. |

Potatos can't handle csgo. Because they can't take the heat! Geddit? Nah. If you're crashing to desktop it means your computer isn't csgo worthy.
And before you go off and start the bashing, realize how old csgo is. Its all core mechanics and spray patterns to the veteran players. Inventory is not that hard to manage, its not like you have anything to start when you first start playing.

That's the thing, I don't even sense that. I'm mainly playing death matches on Dust II (the name of the map in CS:GO) and every time I die I don't really feel any direct sense of loss. I guess I have gotten so use to Dust 514's concept of loss that dying in CS is not impacting me like it should. If anything, Dust made me better at it.

You're finding CS:GO roughly how I did when I picked it up for the first time. Hard as hell until you get the recoil patterns down, learn the best routes through the maps, and generally gain experience you can use against people.
That said my lap top is garbage, my mouse is buget as hell and not designed for gaming, and admittedly the internet here not yet having made the jump to Fibre.
I'm hoping to get another laptop/proper PC soon and CS:GO is more or less going to be where I start with PC shooters.

Looks like I already found my next hard-mode weapon in CS:GO.
The R8 Revolver.
That damn this is hard as hell to get any kills with its long recoil time and the level of accuracy needed to kill anyone effectively. I'm forced to lead my corners while keeping the barrel of the gun to eye level to increase my chances of getting head shots while minimizing the need to re-adjust my aim. It seems to have its own quick-fire by slapping the striking bit but it throws off my aim a bit when I do that. If I want to get an accurate first shot I have to pull the trigger but it's a slow animation so every shot has to count. But when the shot is on target, it will hit that player like a truck. Just one or two shots is enough to take out anyone.
But again, it's a tough weapon to use. Some players on voice chat even told me to not use it because it was "too hard to use" but I told them "I'll use it for that very reason then. I like a challenge." They sounded confused after that. XD
It's also my primary weapon with no other secondary fitted.
I'll also keep practicing with the knives to see how to best use them.
Overall, this is the best game to hone in your skills with the keyboard and mouse while waiting for CCP to announce the new game for PC. And if anyone has CS:GO you can friend me on Steam. There is also a Steam Group called DUST Phoenix where we can get together and form squads.

Some points to make: You can hit F3 to turn off random loadout in death match
In competitive mode, (5v 5 best of 30) you lose guns when u die and u have to buy them at the start of the round with money earned during the round, killing people etc. If u survive then they carry over to next game
Competitive is the main part of CS GO, with a great matchmaking system, I'm decently high rank, LEM, so if u have any questions shoot

If u wanna practice aim I suggest the deagle

One of the things I like about Dust is it's longer TTK, it makes it different from other twitch shooters.
