A developer from Overwatch shows exactly what level of transparency is needed to redirect the community into productive feedback This is where the bar needs to be set

So basically you're saying that CCP needs to be Blizzard - a multibillion dollar corporation which has thousands of employees and unlimited resources to make anything they want.
If you mean only make video with a talking dev - that's what Rattati has been doing with dev blogs already when Dust development was ongoing. He was even posting more on forums compared to blizzard employees. |

CCP does provide a lot of information on titles when they fully announce that they are going to be a thing. Here a few to check out;
Fanfest - A three day event streamed live over Twitch where they talk about everything they have been doing with all titles connected to New Eden and will be doing.
The o7 Show - An hour long show they stream live over their Twitch page and then upload to their YouTube page very soon after broadcast; where they thurther going into detail whats been going in within their games, small dev vlogs, interviews and live tests.
YouTube - Everything they record to do with video's they eventually upload to their main YouTube page.
Dev Blogs - Added weekly about many, many topics within and out of all games, dev interviews and ideas they want feedback for.
Eve Gate - The central hub for all forums for all their titles, wikiGÇÖs, individual player and corporation searches, pictures and much, much more.
So there really is a lot of transparency with their games and development progress you just have to know where to look. Yes these places could be advertised more but then I guess it all comes back around to that; they don't want to hold everyone's hands.
Anyway hope all this helps o7

To be fair that's kind of what the openness with Dust was in its early development with the dev blogs, so CCP can be open with the community, it just depends on how they do it.

CCP is a company which claims to be open with its community, and is historically not.
This is a positive and endearing message brought to you by Himi.

Mixed bag, there, for me. Gut reaction is to get defensive on the topic in general, but I been trying to remember what it was like when I started. I do now remember getting very frustrated with the methods the developers would use back in closed/open beta. What I mean is, it always seemed that we as players never got news, updates, or discussions through the forums but second-hand from suck-up community members who were part of some unannounced chat. Well, unannounced to the forums. That always bugged the **** out of me because only a small group of players had the ear of whatever dev was willing to socialize. I remember threads in which players were divided on that. Some defending and protecting the pseudo closed-door access to the devs of that time, and others outright furious over the exclusivity of it all when great discussions were being had here out in the open but mostly just between players theory crafting.
So in that sense, yeah I can agree with you. But it has been a while since I've noticed anything like that playing out. I believe it's gotten better, or I'm getting too old and complacent in my perception.
There seems to be an ebb and flow thing going on. Leading up to FF14, things were quiet (as I remember it, at least) then after BOOM we're all arguing CCP Z for wanting to restructure and strip down skill progression---damn the French!!!! ;) I miss that, but still I don't recall being in a bubble nearly as much as early launch. I thank Rat for making a huge effort on the communications front when he came on board.
Dev Spotlights were good. Dev Blogs were exciting. Discussions were popping.
Maybe i'm just delusional with rose-colored glasses? iderno.

To be more clear, the guy went into detail about what sort of issues they have when it comes to matchmaking instead of just saying "matchmaking is complicated"
In the case of Overwatch, the biggest issue they were having was how to matchmake people who are fantastic at one character, but who want to queue in as a character they have never played, all while keeping it as balanced as possible.
Not only that but they clearly state the goals of said matchmaking system, directing the question back at the community for feedback.
Dust has been great when it comes to communication ever since Rattati joined. Heck, the small community here is a huge boon to the overall development process. EVEFPS is a new identity and needs to START OUT with this level of openness for us to actually get anywhere. New identity means new goals means new strategy that has to be clearly defined for us to provide proper feedback.
The last thing I was is for us to run around with our heads chopped off because CCP doesn't make it clear to us what they want from this game, leaving us to mindlessly speculate after the announcement/reveal as to what the heck they are trying to do.
