Just about every AUR purchase aside from strong box keys was based around the premise of permanent goods. They intentionally mislead people on coming updates to give a false hope that those permanent goods would have some viable future. It is deception plain and simple.

When you are being pumped up on "permanent items" there is a reasonable expectation that it will be use able for some amount of time. I am not claiming that because someone buys a permanent skin CCP should keep the servers alive for the next 50 years but to continually infer a term of support with an outright lie only to turn around and say the game is getting shut down is totally unethical. Unethical actions should not be rewarded laughing off into the sunset with everyones money. The people that purchased within the time frame I am referencing are the ones that actually deserve a refund because they were the victims of this deceit.

I agree with most of what you said, but there's no doubt in my mind they were misleading people on purpose. Whatever term you want to use, they said things that gave assurances your assets/skills would live on to some extent.
