Good Day,
When you are setting up the new skill progression. I'm assuming there will be one.
You need to look at how long it will take to achieve, using Dust terms, a 5 in every category.
If I made 1,000 WP per match (this would be approx 6,000 SP), and each match lasted 15 minutes and I played for an hour, that would be something like 24,000 SP per hour. How many hours would it take me to go from AR 1 to AR 5 and then raise the other AR subskills to 5. Several hundred hours? 50 hours?
Now I could buy skills and so forth, so it's not completely time based, but my point is, it took a really long time to max out this skill, let alone spend SP on other things.
When designing your new progression tables keep this in mind. How many hours will it take someone after their initial purchase, if they don't spend anymore money, to achieve the max on a particular skill.
Some people are fine with in game add-ons, others pay XX and never want to pay again.
There probably has to be a path for both kinds of players to max out the skills.
If I played for 50 hours and only an hour a day, that's shy of 2 months of playing and would I have achieved a 5 in all AR skills.
Anyhow,
Thanks for reading this. |

you are new. tehy actually made it easier to get 5 skills. it used to take much longer, and you used to make less SP per match.
a guy last night in my squad ran stacked boosters and made 80k in SP in one match. no. it is not too hard to get lvl 5 skills. get boosters... or grind it out. be gald its not like it used to be |

Thank you for proving my point.
And, no I'm not new.
I remember the introduction of rail rifles and combat rifles, cloaks and jumpers, etc.

This is something I made as a counterproposal to CCP Z's idea of progression for Project Legion long ago. Since legion is no longer happening and is now being replaced by an entirely new New Eden FPS for PC, let's just replace the words Project Legion in the document with Eve Phoenix.

So we have: -Active SP -Passive SP -boosters -barge -weekly cap +events
It has been way to easy and quick to skill to level 5 recently, for two reasons: -it was the end of Dust -it was a good way to generate revenue without alterating the game that much
My opinion is that is will be quite different in dust2.0 and possibly (hopefully) longer.
In EVE online, you cap skill to level 5 only when you know you need it, and that you want to be at your best on a specific role.
Lastly in Dust, you were getting level 5 for the sake of testing the proto, rather than actually wanting and needing it.
Proud player of the most strategic and addictive massively-multiplayer FPS in the world.
