As some know,Dust was intended to be crossplatform.
That (to me,someone who'd never heard of EvE) sounded pretty cool and innovative. I thought i could partake in a gaming history first...
But with this retreat to PCs,CCP has set a precedent. They have essentially said to anyone else "don't do it".
This decision will have lingering, rippling effects on the whole of the gaming universe.
I was hoping Dust could've been the ff7 or minecraft of crossplatform gaming.
FF7 was a landmark accomplishment for jrpgs.
And while everyone was trying to push the bleeding edge of graphics, minecraft proved you don't need insane graphics...you just need the fundamentals.(An active community never hurts either.)
These games didn't succeed because they focused on competition.
They succeeded because they had a focus of doing their own unique things.
A crossplatform game on the PS4 would have been incredibly unique, and would have won many fans and reputation for that fact alone.
In the future, players would've remembered Dust just as they remember FF7 or minecraft.
But,i fear,Dust will just vanish into the endless sea of FPS on PC. If it succeeds at all.
As i said before,i knew/still know nothing of EvE and using an "EvE connection" for someone such as myself was worthless. It was crossplatform that attracted me,not "EvE".
R.I.P. Infinite possibility. o7

Sarcasm isn't needed.
Dusts' longterm effects would've been a lot more dramatic.
Rocket League is 2v2 with simplistic gameplay. Dust was/is 16v16 and uses bombardments from and entirely different game (EvE).
They are "leagues" apart in complexity and design.
Crossplatform the same game, and crossplatform two different games aren't even close to being relateable.

I'd rather have a good game, than a unique one.
Besides, Dust was unique without the cross-platform thing. |

Sry, but no.
Initially, DUST is was intended for release on the PC. For some reason he was released on consoles, losing graphics, gameplay and sizes.

Eh plenty of games have done Cross Console.... not sure Dust would have been unique just for having done that.

From my point of view consoles are about... separate market, not for crossplatform or merging all about. Term 'exclusive' is more important then anything because this means ... money.
CCP gamble because they need new people who (at that point in time) like play fps and probably will like SCI/FI themes etc. Good point of strategy - go for console players (PS3 offer 80kk+ gamers), give them FREE nice product with rich lore and done. Marketers go to work and make things like 'crosplatform', 'one universe', 'laser focusing' etc ;) Everybody was happy ... to the point that we have now.
We can use terms 'betrayal', 'milking', 'core players' and disapoitment... but if you think about relase Dust at PC few year elrier we can be probably at different point. Different ' core players', different patches and level of developing of Dust at all. Even this project can go on without canceling.
CCP is fine developer. They are close players more then 'buisnes model'. You can see it easy. But they also want that it's product will live and if... still make some money.
PC as long offer one thing... it can grow with players, hardware and developers software and skils. If PC is not to shine for you as 'console world' ok... don't worry. If we succes there BIG fishes will bought CCP in blink of the eye and we back to console world :D (like example look at history of GTA)
This all are only few things and live is more complicated then this, but CCP are still there, like us and ... they make few more games for sure
Cheer up - o7
Not much time left...
