PC and PS4 players do not intermingle in each others games due to balance reasons and version differences.
PC players operate in one half of nullsec/lowsec for planetary conquest related activities, PS4 players operate in the other half.
Pubs are completely independent of each other.
There you go.

new DUST won't even be EVE linked, the CPM made a post which perhaps I read wrong, I don't know who said it but it concerned me.
kevall longstride Which is why I'm willing to bet that although the new game may or may not have a connection to Eve in the future it'll be linked to TQ so that CCP can monitor discrepancies and permaban cheaters.
Thats just my own musing by the way. We've not had that kind of detail given to us.

I've read that. That doesn't mean anything.
And plans can change.
What I just laid out would give them the flexibility to release a PC version first, get income out of it, then release a PS4 version as well without compromising anything.

That was a stupid slogan in the first place, because it is neither one universe (anoikis is considered artificial and detached) nor one war (there are hundreds of separate wars going on at any given time).
Needless to say, you'd still all be on TQ and in the same game world. You'd just be fighting at separate ends of it.... which is exactly what the relationship is with EVE/Dust right now, so who cares.

You just made the problem even worse. Eve politics is a bigger topic than that. You can't just lock out a part of the playerbase from politics in one half of the universe just because of the platform. Seriously... when it comes to bad ideas, yours is somewhere amongst the top 5.

We don't know the new game yet. But in my opinion it would be weird if CCP would omit the point the game became famous for in the first place.

Why not?
If you live in one part of space, you deal with certain mercenaries. If you live in another, you deal with another.
Then again, I guess you'd rather have no game at all. Sure, that works.

Or just save up some money and build a decent computer (which doesn't cost a fortune btw) and play the new game. Its not going to go to PS4 get over it. |

Because when the game has an effect on the universe it's a horrible idea. What do you do when your alliance is in another half of the universe? Tough luck? If they finally integrate the game meaningful into eve online, then alliances will depend on the mercs.
Nope. Your idea is seriously horrible. It would also lead to no complete version of the game available. You are completely ignoring the Eve side of the game.
Also... I will be playing on PC. And I think getting rid of a platform with limited hardware capabilities is good for the game.

TBH I know this may be hard to take seriously.
But I'm all for one platform for CCP to work with, keep it simple until they can actually prove they can program. They have shown an incapability to even get one platform right, I couldn't imagine the carnage of having 2 platforms being programmed at the same time, let alone optimising and formatting for 2 platforms.

There'll be no game at all on the PS3, yes.
However, we'll have a more integrated game on PC, so while the platform change is unfortunate, it works out best in the end.
As others have said, any segregation is absolutely unacceptable no matter what. The entire point of New Eden is the entire world all playing together on one server with no exclusive instancing of any kind. There's no way CCP would ever set up a system like that because it would violate the core design principles of both games.

If CCP were to go with PS4 and PC then they would have to create two different games. One game for both would probably work at first but ultimately the limitations of consoles would restrict gameplay development.
I wish the game were going to the PS4 but I have accepted that a new FPS game for the PC will come with more developmental freedom than consoles can offer.

This just wouldn't work. What happens when our current problem eventually rears its head on the PS4?
The PS4 isn't going to last forever, and the inevitable PS5 will be on the horizon before such a game is even finished. What happens to the "PS4 half" of the universe when the system is getting past its prime? PC will continue to progress fluidly, while the PS4 is stuck as is until they make another jump. No matter how they handle it, it's going be some combination of frustrated EVE players, a lack of support for PC players, and PS4 players starved for the full experience. It just isn't viable to maintain two semi-parallel games on separate platforms, and would ruin it for everyone.
We would end up with one of three situations: a universe that has different rules in different halves, the PC version being crippled by the PS4/5's inability to progress, or the PS4 version slowly becoming an optimization nightmare (which would likely be a different version of result #1). |

Don't overestimate how many people are making the leap, Mobius.
More than 90% of the Dust playerbase dies here.
I'm just throwing alternate solutions at the wall, but if people want to get picky then let em die I guess.

Inba poll over 60% were exited for the new game. Also the newbl game being on pc will not only attract eve players, but also new people.
I think you are underestimating the new playerbase which will form.
