I'm fairly certain the concept of moar dakka isn't foreign to any race...as even Lasguns, pulse rifles, and even missile pods (as well as numerous other weapons) are considered Dakka.
Khanid Logi and Tanker, sometimes AV Heavy or Sniper.

That doesn't change that your Assault Phase still sucks pretty bad compared to say..... a Tyranid Assault Phase or Slaaneshi/Khornate CSM Massacre Phase.
Sure..... you might now have Strength 5 and slightly better combat stats but you are still staring down a literal bucket full of To Hit and To Wound Dice from either opposing army.

well, that's what the Blind Grenades are for xD...combined with Melta Blades and Dawn Blade...combined with slaps from bodyguards...and possibly an Oneger Gauntlet, yeah it's not as good, but it's not designed as a primary offense, you shoot, throw, then charge to finish off the big HQ squad (hopefully the blind went off)

Meanwhile those leaping Hormagaunts and Chameleonic Skin Lictors just finished eating your gunline while the Fex..... assuming it somehow survived crossing the table with a few of its 10 wounds in tact just took a bite out of your Hammerhead.

Gunline? Battlesuits don't go in lines...not if you're using them correctly...they're all about in-your-face heavy firepower...maybe I've got a strike team or two covering my hammerheads...with Commander Laserpointer as that secondary force-org...maybe I play a little different than most tau players...for instance, I like the Heavy Burst Tide more than the 72" "Fun" Tide
