Hasn't CCP shown enough that they can't build a proper working game? Why would you want a game that doesn't work just on a different console? Porting will not save the game. Building a game that people actually enjoy playing would. Instead, the only updates that this game has received are revenue centered. That's fair. It obviously leads to a high turnover rate of players, but it's fair.
My 2 ISK on the situation is: for CCP to build DUST 514 as an enjoyable game, that simply works when it's operating. CCP would garner more revenue with that method, especially over the long term.
I'm glad I play DUST. I have met great people. The one thing all players can take away from this game is the chat system in the game. It's a social network with an FPS added into it.
But, to ask for a port... that's like asking a giraffe to mow my lawn. Incapable.

I think people use the word "port" because its more readily understandable, but the general consensus is that it needs to move to a more modern platform and more or less rebuild the framework of the game. I doubt that people really want just a 1:1 transfer of the existing game to a new platform.

I'm done asking personally. I wouldn't mind if they got help from a different company that's successful to help them make theirs and ours Dust dream true. But that cost money, and selling a few skins isn't enough to pay for. I have no idea how that would work or how that comes about, just my inexperienced opinion.
I know to make something work you need money, resources, manpower, dedication, etc, as far as i know, that's not what they have. To me everythings a test for them.
'Lets try X out on Y & Z to see if it works.' 'Now lets try A on B & C to see if it works.'
Start something, never finish it, start something else never completely finish, while working on something else to start, occasionally come back to mess around some more, giving themselves a giant pile of unfinished crap to sift thru with the community mostly lost.
TLDR Off track but bottom line is, we are the guinea? pigs being thrown out into an unfinished testing ground without someone bothering to check the results.

because some players actually enjoy the game.
even though on its current state its very buggy.
i never played a day without any bugs appearing.
but we enjoy playing it and wish to continue playing it to another platform, because its current platform is dying.
just saying.

Pretty much this.
No one here is asking for a straight port without any changes. What we are asking for is a port in the sense that it will be fixed and further optimized and given more content during the process of porting it. Or at least just fixing and optimizing if the content part takes time.
We just say "port" because "porting over with fixes/optimizations" is just too long to say in conversations.

How could anybody desire a 1:1 port...it would be a disaster
