The constant disconnects from the PSNetwork recently...
Is it a fault on our side?...
Is it a fault on your side?...
Is it a fault with the PSN?...
Are you guy's on it?....

It seems to be happening on PS3 only with most online games. PS4 seems unaffected.

Um... PSN disconnects is generally related to Sony's systems, not the games....

Indeed you are correct...
Web search suggests others are experiencing the same unexpected disconnects (with various online games)...
There doesn't seem to be any official word from PlayStation directly concerning the issue...
I guess we shall just have to wait and see if it sorts itself out...

As far as I am aware, PS3 reached its official "end of support" at the end of 2015.

That's not accurate. It's reached its 10th year in its life cycle, which is amazing for a console, but it still gets support from Sony. Unfortunately, even Sony is starting to see the age of the PS3 and thus support will likely begin to end this year.
