I'll just come out and say it... When the level designers built the sockets, they weren't told to keep in mind that player would later on by abl to jump 30m in the air.
They would've designed things differently. What we have currently, was designed with some thought, around the assumption that players vertical abilities would remain fixed, and limited.
what we've done with the mods, allows players to operate outside the intended design of the level designers. It creates some balance issues.
For example, the projectile arc with plasma cannons and mass driver rounds was designed to require some amount of skill at range. However, shooting at a target below yourself gives you more accuracy. Many players can jump above walls to hit players on the other side, who can't defend themselves. Plasma cannons nearly kill you outright with splash damage alone, and you cant turn around or track jumping targets fast enough without adjust your controls.
I'm not saying anything needs to go away, but if jumping 30m in the air doesn't fit in with level design, you need to review things from a balance point.. The ability itself was implemented poorly. Jump height should being according to button pressure sensitivity, to allow for small, medium, or large jumps. |

The jump actually fit in the level design, it is very weird , but you are right, it is poorly implemented

But do you see a lot of plasma cannon jump suits? Because if I remember correctly mass drivers are anti-armour vs plasma cannons anti-sheild. Its mostly mass driver jump suits running rampant. While the ability to jump high has opened new areas only available via drop ship,it gas also opened up a few...questionable tactics. Well. There's a dark side to everything I guess.

gal scouts run plasma cannons because you can't see them, so they can line up a perfect shot to one hit kill you... from 5m away. |
