The other day I was wondering how would look Dust if it were on current gen. I was bored and thought that I could actually do something just for both fun and training, and in a few hours I had this very basic prototype of what I thought could have been a simple corridor of an Avatar. I also made a few weapons ( and yes, since I'm not a pro 3d modeler it might not fit your taste ). The one in the last image is a fully functional "scrambler" Lance. It does shoot 3 laser beams after a "charging" delay of 1,5 seconds, and keep shooting the laser for 3 seconds. The beam color varies both based on distance and heat buildup: Light yellow to orange-ish based on distance and yellow to purple-ish based on heat buildup. I've also managed to add a slight "flashbang" effect if you hit the target but it is too far from you to take full damage.
So here's what I did in 3-4 hours in modo/blender, Zbrush, 3d coat and UE4:

You're forgetting all the things Dust does. It has custom fittings, various things to calculate, etc. If Dust were to only feature buildings you could fly around on with 0 other players and nothing to calculate, then I'm sure it'd be able to look like this.

Indeed it could be much better if it was simply that, yes.Although, ps3 can't handle the same amount of post processing, polycount etc. a current gen ps4/PC can. This wasn't a demonstration of anything but how cool it could potentially be on current gen.

The scrambler lance reminds me of the staff weapon from Stargate. Do Amarrians actually use a weapon like this?

In lore there is nothing that indicates they have developed any weapons like this (the kind that resemble more traditional close combat weapons by employ science fiction technologies) with the exception of the Shock Whip which was used to keep Minmatar slave in line before the Rebellion.
That said Nova Knives offer us some insight into the capabilities of such advance technologies even when employed on melee weapons.
I actually had a weapons concept in my mind based around the idea of Valkyria Chronicles Lancers. Basically a long lance weapon carried in two hand before either being fired over the shoulder or from the hip that holds a 2-3 pulse charge near the tip of the lance before being replaced with another tip.
In the weapons description it would also say that the weapon comes with a personal disposal drone designed to recover the highly radioactive tip cannisters before the hazardous materials can be dispersed into the atmosphere.

I'm actually a big fan of Stargate Maybe that's why I always thought Amarr = Goa'uld. And yes, it is very much inspired by the Jaffa staff

Have been a bit busy this week because I'm working on another project with a friend, but still I'm not abandoning this one for sure: Since the last time I added some weapon behaviors (still no models, sorry ) : burst, continuous (laser-like), single shot and auto. Also managed to put some variables there like PG/CPU consumption (not sure if I'm going to put this as a mechanic for now), max range (still couldn't make a damage falloff system ), ROF, damage and other special weapons behaviors I thought might have been cool in an FPS, like target levitate and can't move for x time when hit. Not much, I know. I also figured out a bit (seriously, a tiny bit) of Amarr-ish style and managed to put down an original game-ready battleship/wheteveryouwouldcallthat: here's a pic taken in engine (yes, it is imgur ). The goal is first off just to train and then at a certain point I would probably put all I have into three or four single-player missions.
Dude, this is exactly what it would look like. It's called Project Legion, and its been in development for PC for 2 years now.
