As of today's EVE release, you can query DUST characters in the EVE API. For the first time, it's possible to programmatically pull the corp history of a DUST player!

This makes me feel like the "surprise" tomorrow will be a new EVE-Dust link. Possibly the ability for alliances to be formed, better EVE-Dust corporation management, PC update, etc.

Hmmm, I do remember that, though... how have they pulled that data before? CCP's patch notes say that this API support is new. There are things Chribba might have been able to do at Chribba-scale, that weren't so easy to just do straight lookups before now.

You mean the surprise 12 days of DUST thing? That was like days ago. 12 days started on Dec. 25th, not Jan 1st.

Multiple names can be comma separated.

Wasn't there a special "Jan 13th" surprise that was listed in the 12 days of dust thread? It was described as "something that both capsuleers and dust mercs would enjoy, to the best of my knowledge

I've been using a mix of api calls and forum tricks to collect data since some years, but this has made it whole lot easier (and with less requests).
I'm switching dustboard to only use the api.

And DUSTBoard should now be back online again.
You will soon have all the same sort of statistics that EVEBoard provides, eg mercs in corp/alliances, DoB distribution etc.
Will take some time to populate however as I am doing a refresh of all nearly 10 million mercs.

Now that Dustboard is connected via the API, does that mean that corp data will refresh faster than the usual 12-24 hours?

^Deezy, this is a lot faster than Chribba's Dustboard to return character data. That batch search is pretty nifty for stuff like batch corp searches. It would be nice if you could type in a corp name and return the history of all of its members.

With all the complaining I see about dust being dead, or dying, it sure is hard to justify why CCP would be spending all this time adding DUST based updates to EVE if they are just going to let it die.
Also to those who keep complaining about server stability issues and increased lag/latency, remember that CCP is currently upgrading its server architecture and I would bet money that is why we are seeing a current increase in stability issues.
Just wait until late February or early March when they finish with all the upgrades. I am guessing that they are waiting for the new servers to be in place before launching the new update. At least that makes the most sense to me.

How much of the gameplay latency can be chalked up to an increase in South Am. and Central Am. players sharing the America battle-server? CCP would be in a better position (than people on the fourms) to correlate network latency with hard numbers of player activity and geo-location.

The thing here is this recent update to the Eve-side API system only confirms to me that Dust is not really dead or dying. You are right. If CCP really is going to let Dust die, why bother putting in something Dust related into something that better suits Eve Online players at all? It makes no sense.

Corp data, depends on what you mean by that. Like the info for who is in a corp etc. That is tied into the merc update (which has a minimum of 12 hour refresh time).
But as soon as a merc is updated, he/she will be in the corp info. May be a bit longer initially now though due to me refreshing all mercs to get all the proper data into the database so the current/former info will not be accurate until that refresh has been made.

Probably the easiest way to mine that data is using YQL to scrape the html. (awesomnium or selenium could work too)
