We'll I just completed a cursory read through of the new Chronicle called Inheritance which directly involves the last few representatives of the Jovian Directorate as well as the presumed dead Matashi Raish, whom was supposedly killed by Aldrith Shutaq (an alliance member) at the Empress command.
I just though I'd summarise the Chronicle and see what those who bothered to read it thought.
The Chronicle is set against the back drop of Matashi Raish presumed death at the hands of Amarr loyalists after his Society of Conscious Thought vessel was warned not to scan the Avatar class titan upon which the Empress was located. At the Empress command dozens of Amarr loyalists present fired upon and quickly destroyed his vessel killing the adepts on board and presumably Raish himself.
However what actually transpired was that Raish awoke at a Society of Conscious Thought Facility where he was confronted by a Jovian named Veniel. He relays information that confirms that The Other had begun to influence Jamyl Sarum I's mind and was meshing with it on a personality level, also confirming his assertions that The Other was a significant threat to the entire cluster.
However he is confused as to why the Virtual Construct was meshing with her personality rather than simply controlling her, at which point the Jovian reveals that he suspected that she herself was willingly drawing The Other into her mind, a great feat of raw will power it is noted, so as to potential weaken the being.
Raish suggests that the assassination of the Empress might well be the best option forwards however the Jovian cautions patience with the emergence of the Drifters whom I suspect if I read the Chronicle correctly are the Stasis Enclaves of the Secon Jovian Empire, or more accurately the Sleepers themselves.
After this Veniel asks Raish to accompany him to a location where a former Jove colleague named Ouria has been investigating an enormous stellar structure, Veniel also hints that the discovery of the purpose of the structure was what caused the collapse of the First Jove Empire.
His revelation is that the Talocan, a preceding race, artificially created the wormhole space known as Anokis using some technology beyond even Jovian understanding and that events in New Eden's past considered catastrophic, the Isogen 5 disasters that shattered entire planets and killed billions, were only the beginning of something more unsettling and disturbing going on in New Eden.
Later after the Assassination of the Empress Jamyl I the Amarrian representative to CONCORD's inner circle, Sirdan xer Qosh, is petitioning CONCORD to take action against the Drifters who are besetting the Empire. Their response however is one of caution and apparently boredom as they refuse to aid Sidan dismissing concerns about capsuleers he brings to them and the media coverage of the Drifter Incursions.
Out of the shadows and quite surprising everybody present Raish appears before the Inner Council who demand an explanation for his presence in the Inner Circle Chambers and his hints that Jamyl was either complicit or accepting of her own death to kill The Other. He responds by taking a seat in the formerly absent Jovian Directorate's chair and activates a neurochemical reader that confirms that he is in fact the officially designated representative of the Jove.
He also acknowledges the claims that the Jovian Directorate, or at least what we know them as, is gone and that they have secured their future in the Society of Conscious.
GÇ£They are indeed, for the most part, gone. Certainly the Jove Empire and the Jovian Directorate are no longer functioning entities. To that extent, the Jove are gone. But they did not leave without setting their affairs in order.GÇ¥
Okonaya had noticed a growing number of alerts scrolling down her screens and bent to look at them quickly, before looking back up at Raish in amazement. GÇ£You have reactivated the Jove participation protocols. You have access to every aspect of CONCORD operations. How?GÇ¥
Matshi Raish smiled again, sat down in his place and clasped his hands together. GÇ£It is quite simple. The Society of Conscious Thought have inherited the mantle of the Jovian Directorate. From this point onwards, we are the fifth point of the star.GÇ¥
After the Inner Circle if forced to accept him the first thing he does is inquire after the Upwell Consortium, the same Consortium that I believe ORE joined after they hired operatives from Mordu's Legion/Arkombine to forcibly seize assets held by the Serpentis Corporation, and the same group in line to both release the new Ice Mining Barges an Citadel structures.
All in all this bit was beyond interesting and throws some very interesting light upon the interaction between Jamyl and The Other whom I always assumed was mentally battling to retain her sanity and control of the clusters largest and most experience military. However that's not at all the case if we accept the suspicions of the characters in the Chronicle.
She instead has apparently resigned herself to sacrifice knowing that without allowing it to meld with her own mind it cannot be weakened and therefore made vulnerable for destruction through her assassination. If we assume she is complicit and accepting of her death the sudden and large number of appearances in public leading up to her death somewhat begin to make sense as she cannot be seen publicly wanting to kill herself or be murdered in the Imperial Courts or risk seeing the Empire fracture.
Any thoughts?

Raish was right.
The Other was influencing the Empress. She was drawing it into her mind to weaken it. She might have been complicit in her own assassination.
The Jove revealed that Anokis, Wormhole space, is artificial and was made by the Talocan.
Raish was made the Jove representative to CONCORD and the SoCT is now the fifth power in the Cluster.
Something fishy is happening with the Upwell Consortium.

Wasn't that CCP's Drekkar Alliance they use in all of their trailers to represent Capsuleers?
However it could be pretty interesting to think that this Consortium of industrial oriented corporations that have banded together might have some strange nefarious purposes we don't yet know of.

I'm going out on a limb to say I doubt it unless there just happens to be some major lore changes in the works for Dusters who can somehow find a niche within the developing narrative to validate our economic existences.

I really should do a full story arc synopsis starting with the Chronicle Black Mountain, Discovering Caroline's Star, the Drifter Emergence, Entosis Links, and all the rest that leads up into this Chronicle.

Because our clone tech isn't superior. It's just different.
Unlike us EVE pilots must be inside their capsules to re-clone. At least to my understanding and can be killed if caught outside their pods. However when they die their consciousness is rewritten at a predetermine point somewhere in the cluster non matter the distance.
We however can be killed anywhere and can re-clone. However unlike capsuleers our modules have a very limited and finite broadcast range that often times only extends a few hundred thousand kilometres and thus if we are killed out of range of a CRU unit we can also permanently die.

A Capsuleer usually has a "soft-clone" backup. If they die outside of their capsule, once death is confirmed that backup is put into a clone. The result is they don't have any of their memories since that copy was made, so it's like everything after that point never happened as far as they know.

Interestingly enough I haven't yet heard the reason they were collecting bodies besides I suppose for biomass or something like that.

With The Society of Conscious Thought having a seat on the council doesn't that mean that they are recognized by CONCORD and therefore granted some kind of protection of their space. I dont play EVE so I thought that would be a big deal in New Eden. Wouldn't a new faction looking to expand benefit from having CONCORD protection?

It gives them about as much protection as the Amarr are currently recieving due to CONCORD's reticence to engage the Drifter's based on a lack of concrete information about their goals and technological abilities. I think it is fair to say that the sudden appearance of Raish taking the Jovian seat leaves then in the uncomfortable position of having to speculate on what else they 'Inherited' and once this becomes public information I suspect other groups may also be in the same position.

Edit: actually, we should have done this long ago...
We certainly do if to help provide scale for the events that are happening.
Corporation will want to know what the SoTC knows, the Amarr will take protecting themselves into their own hands with no help expected from CONCORD looking everywhere for tools to use to combat the Drifters, certainly the other three Empires are going to want to do the same at any cost.
Serpentis will want what they had before Mordu's men seized back ORE assets, Citadels will soon be a reality and logically provide the perfect place of military assets who can't die and can afford to be trained as part super solider and party astronaut to fight their conflicts, etc.
