My roommate's moving out, he's taking all his stuff to the new place tomorrow/in the next couple days, and basically everything in the living room is his. The couches, the table, the chairs, the bureau, the TV, the PS3, etc. Hell, even most of the stuff in the kitchen in his. We're lucky to have a fridge when he leaves, because he was intent on getting rid of all the old, '******' furniture when he moved in. The place is going to be pretty much empty once he leaves. But I'm not sure if I'm going to want to drop money on any of those things any time soon since rent will hike with a person less paying for things. PS3 is cheap, but TVs are expensive and come in a stupidly wide variety. Plus apparently some/all? HD TVs have input lag and I don't want to pick up one of those if it's going to mess with my games, Dust or otherwise.

So I'm gonna try to be on tonight/in the next couple hours and actually play some games with folk before I'm cut off from my addiction. Please be aware that I don't quit matches unless I'm one of the last 4 or 5 on my team, and even then I still like to stick around and **** with people. So if you're the type to quit because 'it looks like it'll be a stomp' or you've died too many times you can just go ahead and not squad with me, because we won't be playing together long, anyway. My mic also no longer works because the cat gnawed on the cord. I forgot to get my brother to fix it when he was patching up my Wii U's power cord, which also suffered the pointy teeth based wrath of the cat. ******* hate that thing.

And dammit, I forgot the PS2 in my room belongs to my sister. My sister is my roommate's girlfriend and she's going with him when they move so I'm not gonna have ******* anything to play but god damn Mario Maker. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Anywho, all that said, here's to hoping 1.3 drops soon and it doesn't **** too many people off. I want a game to come back to someday.

I did. This is my new tv. Just had to turn on game mode.

The tv That had bad input lag was a Samsung HD smart tv. For some reason, thy don't put gamemode and that sort of stuff on "smart" tvs, only dumb tvs. Before that, I had an old Panasonic bow tv with ZERO input lag.

Smart TVs are for overprivelleged white people with no spending limits and for ignorant minorities to mimic said white people. What I'm saying here is that smart TVs are trash,a trinket.
Small TVs with high refresh rates and pixels are what you want. Not those overpriced Netflix machines.(although you can accomplish the same effect with a console and be able to play games and socialize through it as well)

Grab a free trial of Amazon Prime.

Buy a cheap chinese TV that will have a better refresh rate than the high end TVs anyway. All 4 of my screens are Seiki and not only are they excellent quality but amazing bang for your buck. Optionally you can just go with a 720p Vizio to go super cheap.

Get free 2 day shipping on said TV.

Cancel your prime membership before you are billed.

 Enjoy.

I suggest just getting yourself a cheap little flat computer screen, spend 15$ on a DCMI converter and just hook that up to your ps3, it's HD with a lot less input lag than the huge tv's .3.

 This tv meets those qualifications.
Small, Full HD 1080p, 60hz refresh rate, and under $200!

Oh, and it's a Smart TV.

Smart TVs are really inexpensive and have been for a while. They're actually one of the more affordable options for watching netflix for the masses, assuming you don't already have a TV to plug a media device into, or have a PS3 or Wii lying around.

I don't disagree with you that they're pretty bad though, "overprivelleged"
people like you and me that can afford to will of course go for the more expensive but better option of a dumb HDTV with a game console hooked up to it, as that will outperform the smartphone-reject electronics powering most Smart TVs
Well actually, I don't really even have a TV that I use, just an inexpensive monitor like this one , which comes with a headphone jack

Works pretty swell with watching bluray movies on my ps3, and has incredibly low input lag of 11ms

Say OP? If you don't give a **** about watching TV and don't mind sitting up close, maybe try that monitor out
It'll kick the ass of the most expensive TVs out there in terms of input lag. Bonus: Got a laptop or something? DUAL MONITORS!

Really short version: the TV takes time (on the order of a few dozen milliseconds) to turn the signal from the PS3 into the picture you see. So there's a small delay between what is actually happening in the game and what you're seeing on the TV, which already happened some dozen milliseconds ago.

While the delay is mostly unnoticeable and doesn't really matter when watching movies and in most games, in really fast paced games... say you have a TV with a huge input lag, your eyes are telling you that you can land a hit, but your aim is already too far off in the actual game by the time you see it on the TV and react by pressing the button... that's the cause of much "BULLSHIT, I SHOULD HAVE HIT THE GUY!" and smashed controllers

Different TVs have different input lag, you can look up how much yours has by finding the model name/number on your TV and googling for example "LG 32LN530B input lag". Many TVs have a "game mode" setting which disables some image processing stuff for less lag at the cost of picture quality

westinghouse led tv was 300 when i got it 4 years ago, 39 inch, very good picture due to high refresh rate and better lighting than all the other tv's in walmart/target at the time(still is besides 4k's), but when i read reviews i knew the speaker would be weak as ****, like most tv's, so i bought a 100$ soundbar with it that reviews said kicked ass.
both were good decisions, got a cheap led tv that looks better than every other led i've seen, and a relatively cheap soundbar that makes it hard to tell the difference between it and much higher end audio systems playing high quality audio files.
nowadays this tv goes for 250 i think, and on black friday i think i saw it for 180$, so for 280$ you could essentially get the best you can get without going above 1000, and getting extremely diminished returns.

I've got suggestions to take a look at when I've got the money to buy a new everything. Hopefully it won't be too much longer than two or three months since some pretty decent looking, cheap TVs have been suggested. But, y'know, things come up. So we'll see.

I completely forgot that was a possibility. Thankfully my ex roommate and my sister have more respect for people's stuff than that. If they ever intend to sell the PS3 hopefully they wipe the information off it personally rather than assuming whoever they sell it to will remember to do it. Or bother at all. My sister bought her 3DS from GameStop with games already on it.
