I propose to streamline the controls. Here's what I propose:
- The D-pad is too busy with things that could be united under one single menu.
Player's list & overview map coudl be come one unique menu: open it and you have the map, press R2/L2 to switch to player's list.
- Neocom & communication could also be untied under one single menu.
As above we coudl use R2/L2 to switch between them.
- Actions (hacking/use) could be contextualized and assigned to SQUARE: press SQUARE to enter vehicles and so on.
The only inconvenience with this is that next to an object you can interact with you can't reload.
- Assign Weapon Switch & Inventory to TRIANGLE.
- Assign Change Stance to CIRCLE.
- reserve R2 for future abilities like Cloaking
- Add SIX axis motion controls for Dropships and for Fighters in the future.
With these modification an hypothetical controller could be like this:
SUARE: Reload and interact CIRCLE: Stance TRIANGLE: Tap to switch weapon, Hold to access inventory wheel. R1: Shoot/use equipment. R2: Spacial ability action. L1: Aim. L2: Grenade throw. D-pad Up: Tap to Spot & Mark (if introduced) Hold to access direct Squad Command Wheel (If included/upgraded) D-pad Left: TBD D-pad Right: RDV menu. D-pad Down: TBD Select: Map & Player's list. Start: Neocom & Communication. R3: melee, pres sin vehicle to change to 3d person camera. L3: Run.
Now whit this layout we have 2 empty buttons ready for future additions...and we will get those granted. All controls also should be customizeable, as many of us suggested, with the possible exception of Select & Start. |

Greetings,

^^^ We have been asking for that for weeks now and no answer. I want full customization but in case is not possible an alternative layout like the one I suggested is an improvement IMO. |

I have thought about an alternative way to activate running.
Instead that pressing L3 we coudl simply tilt the left stick forward twice, then keep it pushed forward, and we run.
If you have played God of War 3 you know how this works. |

Here also an alternative set of controls for LAV & HAV.
L2/R2 to accelerate. R2/L2 to brake/reverse. SQUARE to access inventory instead than R2.

You people do realize that having custom controls in console games, especially on PS3 it seems, is something that will get you burned at the stake from the looks of it.
We wouldn't want the devs being burned in the pyre by Sony would we ?
I mean god forbid if every game on PS3 would have customizable controls that would be anarchy.
Pray with me and purify your selves from those unclean heathen thoughts ! |

I forgot to say it but of course we need to have a left handed controls scheme...that was implied. |
