Good Day,
Domination Matches generally start out even or close to it 14-15, 13-16.
One team takes the point, there is a little battle, one side wins the point.
There is an attempt to retake the point, and - one team is successful and the match seesaws back and forth - one team loses slowly over the next 10 minutes - one team gets redlined (redlining is essentially spawn camping but is for some reason players don't seem to mind as much if the other team gets redlined, but really hate it, if they get redlined.)
The seesaw battle is the most rare. One or two out of 10 / 12. The slow death is about the same 1-2 out of 10 or so, but is more common than the seesaw battle.
Most matches end in redlining now. Often with a large part of the team leaving after a few minutes.
Something changed over the lastt month or so.. Maybe it's just the holiday crowd, or newbies (new to whatever tier I'm in), or a different mix from scotty. I don't know what it is, a little of all I suppose. Maybe it's people needing XX number of wins to achieve some mission.
-
Some of it is overzealous players. a large number of players sit on the redline and just massacre anyone that even pops up their head. People Repping players, dropping nanohives, running proto and officer suits and weapons,, all for the reaping. Going after players whom, you have already beaten and making sure you humiliate them, as well.
It's no wonder folks leave battles now. You lose a battle in the first minute or two and for the next 10 minutes you have to die every couple of minutes, just to get any money and if you are really lucky some SP.
-
Maybe give out SP in any match, with any WP level , if the match ends in a mismatch of more than 4 players.
-
Maybe if one team has XX number of players leave the match, the match ends, greater than 5, as an example. The win/lose page comes up and everyone, who was still in battle, gets the WP and SP they have earned to that point. Or if XX number of players die in the redline area, the match ends. Or xx number of deaths in a row, in the redline and the match ends.
I don't know.
Thanks for reading this.

I understand your points and I understand that we need to do something about this. I'm tired of standing on enemy redlines and you're tired of being trapped in them. But I do need to first clarify that I do give the enemy team every possible chance to reestablish their forces on the field.
I will watch the console get hacked and I will literally wait for the objective to flip before I go retake it.
I don't mindlessly slay the starter fits, I do it like a proper gentleman and use my sidearm
I don't in any way try to stop a vehicle other than a tank from exiting the redline. My only hope when I see an enemy lav or dropship flying out of the redline is that he's got links with him.
I cannot stand fighting on redlines but I cant stand doing nothing even worse. It's either slay people in the redline or do nothing and I can't bring myself to it.
So as a little bit of advice, here is a scrubproof way to get your ass out of the redline and stay out.
You take 1 dropship, you put on a mobile cru and some hardeners and plates and all that good stuff maybe even an afterburner, you get a suit, with uplinks. You call in your dropship at THE VERY BACK OF YOUR REDLINE! I AM TALKING THE ABSOLUTE FARTHEST YOU WOULD EVER BE WILLING TO WALK TO CALL IN A VEHICLE! You get in your dropship and you FLY TO THE VERY TOP OF THE MAP IM TALKING LIKE TIPPIEST TOP OF THE MAP, CANT GO NO HIGHER, then you fly that over towards the enemy redline, find something too high for someone with 3 myo's on to jump onto, you land your ship on it, you throw down your uplinks and you WAIT FOR REINFORCEMENT!!!
Works most of the time.

Works most of the time. That only works if the team has not left the battle.

If this game were on proper hardware with even half a dev team with a quarter of a budget, making PvPvE could alleviate a lot of this. The more you capture, the more drones come out to fight you and aid your enemies. That way, teams are further evened out by the AI, making matches far more chaotic.
Also, increased player count since the game was originally intended for larger combat (huge out of bound areas and even somewhat large maps, 24v24 optimization in patch notes years ago, etc)

Risk / Reward is totally screwed right now.
Fighting a well set defensive of any sorts is guaranteed to result in going ISK negative and likely K/D negative thanks to no support from your team.

Players follow what is fun for them.
For one it is a battle. Shooting others, nothing more to it. Some want to win, but they except many things from others. Then they quit.
With their team and budget, I would appreciate a remodeled ambush. Only for medium frames without any equipment (except hives) and grenades. No squads either, quick match to shoot at people.
Might play Dust, soon tm.

I remember playing a few games with and against you. You need to earn more isk, spend more isk, get better skills, and/or get better at the game.
Or not. It's whatever, really.

Good Day,
It's not the match-making system, or any of the other things I mentioned, it's me.
I suck, so other players leave the match.
Blame the victim / messenger, because I bring up the issue. So helpful. I don't know if you are a troll or not.
Thanks for reading this.

Can you tell me any player that has fun not being able to run what they want to run in the next match after they busted their ass to pull out the win for their team?
CCP fails to understand peoples greed to incentivize them to win so that matches are actually matches and not a contest of who has less people quit. Our payout system is barely a step above socialism.

CCP fails to understand peoples greed to incentivize them to win so that matches are actually matches and not a contest of who has less people quit. Our payout system is barely a step above socialism. Yes, the payout system needs to be overhauled. Also in FW, where if you win, you get a good LP payout and an advance in your standings, but if you lose, you get virtually nothing, and probably not much SP either. LP at least should be based on how much loyalty you bring to the fight - instead, there's no real loyalty, so people leave one side if it's losing and join the other side, so the other side always wins.
As for stomping and redlining, I have found myself doing more of this as my skill increases. The game actually encourages it. I've been stomped so much and so often, I fight hard to try to win even a little WP, so when I get the chance and I'm winning, I fight harder and even with my minuscule skill level I'm aiding and abetting the stomping and the redlining. I've also noticed lately I'm being put into more matches where I'm on the winning team. Either something's changed in Scotty, or somehow the fact that I've gotten better is starting to align me with better players. Either way, even though I solo almost 100% of the time, I'm finding myself in more winning matches. |
