I am surprised dust has such issues, the game is only 2, coming on 3 years of age. The first example I provide is Defiance. With the patches the game processes 2 to 3 times as much info every second without issue. It also is capable of having animations play at every socket of the map all day. Not to mention there are 20 to 100 players in a single space. A skill tree, over 300 assets not including drops. It's about as old as Dust too. Still smooth.
A non-MMO one. Skyrim. loading 10,000 items every second in an area as large as 5 or even 20 Dust maps. A game made for a beefy-ish computer runs smoother than 80% of Dust matches. And you can download games while playing it, cutting performance in half yet is still better. The team size they have hinders them so they can't fix it yet they are still able to add data, lots of it. Plus, EVE consumes a lot of the server, we get the "performance scraps"... |

Skyrim doesn't load 10,000 items every second. Or it would barely even run on a console. And the PC version doesn't even have much in the requirements unless you're planning to run some graphic mods.
Plus skyrim is single player. It doesn't have to worry about other players. And Bethesda is really good at making their resources stretch out very well.
How could you even compare dust and skyrim?....
Dust is CCP's first stab at making an online FPS. Skyrim is one of Bethesda's many successful games that are mostly optimized and cater to a variety of people.

I ran up a hill in Defiance once and legit smiled in real life. The bar of expectation is sooo low now because of years of Dust.

Defiance has constant disconnects and enourmous lag during the Holidays (I am refering to PS3 and XBox Defiance, not PC Defiance).

I spent like 10 minutes sitting on top of this hill watching like 20 - 30 tanks and sunderers fight it out down in a valley on my second day in Planetside. I was literally mesmerized.

That's pretty much what's going on during the day,all the TIME. I love sniping on my NC character with a 12x scope. Just casually deciding who lives.....and who respawns.

I like flanking enemy sunderers setup for outpost attacks and sniping them. Some may call it farming but I look at it as an attack on enemy morale.

C4 is a little op if you ask me...... But hey. Explosions that look good cost a pretty penny. Dunno why all my characters are all reaching battle rank 30 all so quickly.

Honestly have not touched C4. All light assault and sniper so far.
I did start working on my Galaxy but its only a side project since I don't have many friends on Planetside.

I'll be on in the next few days. As long as I get a really cool turret to gun from then I'm good.

I will try to keep an eye out for you. I have been playing a lot of Madden 16 on my other account lately.
I have a ton of certs saved up so a turret + upgraded zoom and what not should be easy.

Stable, smooth performance is a must for any shooter. If DUST wants to be a competitve shooter when it grows up, it needs to start running like a competitive shooter. Make cuts if necessary. Smooth performance is worth it.

All those other games we made by companies who knew what they were good at... Dust was made by ccp. I'm not saying ccp can't make a game I'm saying that ccp is very smart in taking the VR market by the horns right away so they can be a top dog in that market.

Also you have no Idea what those games were like in pre alpha- beta- game - finally working. DUST is still technically a beta...
