There is literally no point to it. If you want to stop playing Dust, then stop playing it. You don't have to delete your character, just delete the game, simple as that. Who knows? Maybe you'll regret it one day in the future when you want to come back, and you will regret it, like I did.

It literally takes more time and effort to delete the character rather than deleting the game. I mean biomassing forces you to come back to game to complete it, something your trying to avoid. Oh, the irony...

I don't understand biomassing either unless you messed up royally during character creation or need to clear out a character slot.
Since the character data is stored on CCP's Tranquility server as well as its backups, your data is not lost should the PS3 ever get phased out. And as Dead Cavino pointed out, biomassing actually takes more time than actually uninstalling the damn game.

Dust is very addictive especially when you have hope that they may port to ps4 and allow you to keep your stuff. So, people biomass so it forces them to stay away.
If CCP announces that dust will die on the ps3, no one will show up. That's why we haven't heard from the devs in a long time.

Or maybe they don't like these filthy beggars going ' I can has ur isk and officer gearz plz?' You know,gear/isk they earned through playing? I understand giving it to corpmates/friends but randoms? Thats like having a huge fortune and then dying and all of a sudden some sleazeball gets your fortune to waste.
And besides that mentality isn't so bad. Its actually npe improvement. The less officer and isk there is in the game out of the hands of cheap beggers, the less officer stomping there will be.

I would replace 'enjoy', with 'addicted'
That's what dubbs is on about.
To break the addiction that is annoying you (let's face it, dust is annoying), some people need to go to extremes.
Like some smokers who give up smoking by eating, some say "just stop smoking", others say "find something that breaks the addiction".

Here's why nobody should biomass characters if they're leaving the game:
- at some point in the future you will be tempted to come back - you will get your biomassed character restored, because we're just nice like that - biomassed characters are restored 'as-is' and we will not be able to change anything on them, which we will tell you when we restore the character - biomassed characters do not accumulate passive SP - you will complain that something is missing or not working correctly because you biomassed the character, at which point we will remind you that biomassed characters are restored 'as-is' - you will experience some game-play issue or just get frustrated later on by not dealing as much damage you think you should be dealing or something like that, at which point you will complain and ask us to investigate the character, blaming the biomass-restore process, at which point we will remind you that biomassed characters are restored 'as-is'

same, and i do hate begging but that time when you were new and somone gave you a few mill and some usefull tips. that was awesome, admit it.
and also it's kinda a moot point coz if u didnt advertise yourself burning a big pile of money. then nobody would come asking for money.
you either want the game to be enjoyable for the ones you leave behind or you are trying to sabotage it on your way out. if you wana help ppl donate to reputable starter corps ect. if you wana sabotage it give the pub stompers some more ammo to do so. either way you would have more of an effect on the game itself if you USED everything you have spent your time on. instead of burning it in somekind of protest.

I guess I'm not entirely sure why the need to delete. It's not like smoking where it's damaging your body. I mean I guess if you're quitting your job to spend more time playing Dust, that's harmful, but under most circumstances is seems non issue if you play a lot.
Besides, as Archduke pointed out, Biomassing isn't even permanent, so you're not even forcing yourself to quit by biomassing.

Except a good amount of us earned all that money without any advice or tips or donations. I started 2 years ago and never had more than a million till I won a lottery in my corp that I never knew I had entered. 5 million was in my account for making 1k kills in 3 days. I then worked hard to grow that money by becoming more efficient in standard gear. I evntaully had a small pocket full of 100m isk. I spent it all, grew it up back again and repeated the process. All through my own hard work.
So basically what I'm saying is that its my damn isk and if I'm gonna biomass, then I'm gonna blast away as much as possible then bury myself with the rest. If I'm in a corp then I'll donate to the PC funds
And if you don't tell people that you're gonna leave how will they know if you're gone?
Ha!You can't kill me! I'm already dead!

I did not know that you can restore biomassed characters. We learn something new every day.
But then begs the question. What's the grace period after biomassing your character? Or does the data on the biomass character gets stored forever?

There is nothing actually wrong with characters restored after they were biomassed. But after they're resurrected, players usually start blaming mostly everything on the fact that at some point they biomassed their characters.

Do you bring back biomassed characters as a one time only courtesy to players or do you bring back characters because you have to and it's part of the job?

Some people have played this game for nearly 4 years and can't leave it..after all it held the hopes and dreams of mag..but it's been a let down..don't get me wrong this game was really fun when all the good corps were around and PC was full of good players..but that time has passed, people moved on because this is not the game we hoped it would be...those that are addicted to playing it have to biomass so they can finally leave, there is no reason to return to a game you have no character for...I definitely wouldn't comeback if I biomassed..so instead I put away my PS3 as I still believe in the Dust514 dream..but sometimes I feel it'd be better to biomass..no more rage, let downs, laggy players..I could finally go full neckbeard on PC gaming if I could get over Dust |
