A bow could be a very fun weapon in DUST.
Explosive arrows... Smoke arrows... AV arrows... Flux arrows.... Napalm arrows. It'd be a very versatile weapon system. Hell, it wouldn't even need to take the appearance of a typical bow. You could go a Firefly bowgun route...
Of course, it's never gunna happen regardless, but still...

We just need variable gravity.
This can be done through a simple random pre-match jump height multiplier. This would vary from 2.0 to .25.

add a penalty to myos which increases the stamina cost of jumping, and maybe a small penalty to stamina regen time. If you don't have enough stamina, no jump
Preserves myos as a strategic tool to move around the map in interesting ways, while requiring marios to sacrifice even more hp in the form of complex cardiac regs if they want to jump more than once |
