I understand the worries about the economy, but do people believe the change benefited the game or do people feel that it took away one of the only fun aspects left in the game?

well they diddnt take away the damage increase so it has nothing to do with balance. im going to assume they are going to start selling officer gear for AUR soon as this would be the perfect precurser for such a move.

Hell yes it was a benefit to remove officer gear from the barge. The weapons were designed with rarity in mind so they were borderline op in even the most scrub of scrub players and more so in experienced hands.
Having people able to farm them to the point where they could officer gear all day every day was a horrible idea. |

My problem with this is the pros can still buy endless amounts of it, and can afford to do so. All it really did was take officer away from the poor (they need to trade it for isk to afford adv/proto gear) and put it solely into the hands of the rich.
Officer gear rate should be increased from boxes and EOM, even added to mission rewards now. Obviously it should not have been given from the warbarge to start with, because now there is no easy solution.

Nope, only for as long as stock lasts, and every day means less officer gear in circulation. |

I guess I just see the current state of the game on the PS3 and the uncertainty of a port as a reason to inject fun into the equation as much as possible.
Trading was fun. Officer gear was fun.
I'm skeptical that we'll be able to take assets if there is a port. I see more harm than good in taking officer weapons out of the lab. Nevermind the ridiculous money I spent on a warbarge that absolutely does nothing for me. |

It was fun for the few who had the skill and isk for it, but it's hysterically over powered for everybody else. Items meant to be rare suddenly became common enough that some were dominating the field beyond reason. |

What's silly is I don't think CCP ever truly regulated the circulation of officer gear. That and it was never really a circulation, you'd use one Darth then find a different Darth. Would be cool if there were actually a set number of them, and if they were all in our inventories they couldn't be found anymore until someone loses one.

It was necessary. The removal of officer items from the lab helped restore their trade value.

That is simply not true Dewie.
Less in circulation raised the price, yes. People with a billion plus isk really don't mind, it means only they can horde them.
It also means they no longer have to worry about the plebeians with 50m isk spamming them. |

Officer spam was a real problem. Seeing them dominate the killfeed in PC and Factionals feels fair, but when they were prolific enough to saturate pub domination games something had to be done with them, and cutting them out of the warbarge was the simplest, cleanest solution. I don't miss them in that regard. Also, "fun" is a relative concept. The pro-squads who used them probably had a whale of a time cutting through the chaffe, but the rest of us on the recieving end...not so much fun to be had.

Sorry, seeing people run officer gear ever single match they play is not fun. Noobs will have to find other ways to be useful other than selling officer gear to make friends ;)

That's true. But watching your wallet grow like crazy was pretty awesome. I wish they'd sent me an email so I wouldn't have such a large inventory of stuff that nobody is using. |

Remember the days where a balac's AR in the kill feed was like "woah, officer."
Then a balac's + cala's had you like "this person is serious"
... It was fine then... It was rare and you were kinda surprised to see it in game. You felt good in the victory/defeat screen when you got 3x officer.
But now? You kinda just shrug. It's not the same feeling. You see officer, you're like "meh..." or "great :/"
You see it in your victory/defeat screen... You're like "well... Saved a few isks"
It's just not the same... Yu feel?

I think the change was good, although I wish they had more experimental weapons, like there's no experimental breach shotgun in the game yet, and I think some experimental sidearms are missing? You could get weapon types as officer version that you cant get as experimental. |

Also vice versa. ARR only has experimental, no officer.
I'm soaking so much components into factory, I never claim lab anyway... But if I did, the change benefits me as I don't run scoped rails.
