Try looking in SoTa's "List of Good Anime" thread in the Locker Room. They may be talking about anime, but I'm sure they'll know enough manga to give some recommendations.
My personal suggestion however, is Toradora.

I always like Legend of the Dragon Kings/4 Kings (depending on locality) its a bit of an oldie 12 parter but alwyas stuck. Some of the older monthly ones are overlooked these days

one punch mans great, as mentioned, claymore, berserk...hmm theres plenty of others best i'd say.
lesser but good mangas are the standard jump like toriko, aizens ark in bleach, etc.
not into the sports or jap high school **** so can't say anything about those.

The manga is way too short. The anime is so much better....
I can recommend you this Mangas:
Berserk (my absolute favorite)
Eden (if you like real Mangas and not some ****** mainstream crap)
Shin Angyo Onshi (is the closest one to mainstream on this list)
Parasyte/Kiseijuu
Gunm (also called "Battle Angel Alita")
Gantz (also a bit mainstream, but darker story than most other mainstream crap)
Historie
Green Blood (visually really appealing)
Rainbow
But most guys here will just recommend you boring mainstream crap anyways so it's up to you what you like or not. Plus idk what kind of stories/setting you like (cyberpunk, history etc or the generic high-school, kids bullshit)
