Had a pretty hilarious conversation with some of the guys in #Lore on Slack. We were trying to figure out a rough value of how much 1 ISK in New Eden is worth in terms of real-world dollars. The estimates range based on speculation of Lore resources and items in Eve Online.
One instance was a bit of lore that said a Caldari Navy Colonel made 480 ISK/year. Which, referencing how much a US Army Colonel makes (starting pay) being $70k/year, would mean a typical Prototype Dropsuit fit would be in the $20,000,000 range. It seemed a little far-fetched so we kept searching around for points of reference and the value of ISK in terms of planetary commodities gets really screwy the more you look into it.
We looked at a unit of Tobacco in Eve Online which was 48 ISK and roughly 2,500kg of Tobacco. That equated to real-world prices of tobacco meant that a Proto dropsuit would cost something like $130,000,000 each, so that was nyxxed. We tried other points of reference, like:
A Gallentean Planetary Vehicle (fancy car) is worth about 10,000 ISK.
.... and a (female) exotic dancer is about 53,000 ISK.
And then we had a pipe wrench thrown in the whole conversation when someone mentioned the mass of one unit of a "Large Group of Exotic Dancers". Here's how that went over:

So if my math is correct, each exotic dancer (out of 8000) is worth 6.73 isk roughly. Given the average RL wage is $45,000 yearly, 1 isk is worth about $6,686.50. That makes a proto fit that's worth 200k isk approx. $1,337,295,690.90  |
