So considering Getting a sdd card for Christmas
As but I have no idea what brand make or model to get, anyone got any surguestions?

Hey I just installed my ssd 2 weeks ago. I threw in a scan disk 120gig because I got it for cheap, under 40 dollars. I figured it will help out the rest of my ps3 days and it has!
It is very easy it install on a slim but don't know what you have. The pain in the butt is the back up part. I wanted to restore my system to exactly the way I left it so it takes a bit. You will need a jump drive for the operating system install and a external hard drive to back up the old drive.
As for game play its much better. When the spawn counter hits 0 you are off and running. The rendering of the map is instant and don't get any strange pixel issues, everything seems much more smooth and efficient. I am the only one in the MCC for a while till the rest of the team loads in. As for lag I haven't had any since, but lag is different then other abnormalities. Some things can't be a voided if they come from the server. Good luck

Absolutely ANY ssd is going to exceed the limitations of the SATA I port in the PS3. You can get any drive and you will be perfectly happy.
If you want a ssd that will last through couple of different devices go with a samsung ssd. The 850 EVO is going to give you some serious bang for your buck while being around for a very long time.

Choose the size based on what you feel like spending and if you plan to move that drive to any devices later. For example if you think you will be moving it to a PS4 in the next 6- 8 months do not go less than 250GB.
If you plan on letting the drive die with your PS3 just go with a cheapo drive.

That will more than max out the PS3 specs as well as be usable long after your PS3 is dead and gone.
