:) They don't hate us. We're just irrelevant to them now. There will be no port. They can't admit to that, so they just stay silent. |

i prefer to think there is a port in the making and they cant admit to that, so they just stay silent.
you can ask them if they are going to release a new RTS game based on the eve universe and they will probably just say no...

This.
Dust is the failed experiment that resulted in very bad reviews and some how made its investment back. At least were part of the relationship getting built between CCP and Sony which brought Valkyrie to PS4. If it was not for us it would have just remained an Oculus Rift exclusive most likely.

Companies will not keep a product up that is not profitable. Dust is still up, must be profitable.
Eve had some rough spots, some lasted quite a while. They refused to give up. Here we are 12-13 years later, best sci-fi mmo.
If you don't pay for components, how long would it take to max warbarge? "Let's add a feature that could last years, but shut down before even one year has passed.." Not seeing it.
With gunjack and Valkyrie EXPANDING the universe, why on gods green earth would they shrink in other areas. Vr looks fun, but I won't be wearing a wacky headset for as many hours as I clock into normal games.
Look at the formula, pc, mobile, console, vr. In no business model ever does it make sense to go backwards. Ps3 is coming to a close. Only one road to choose there. Again, not wearing vr for hours on end. I will still want some normal pewpew. Better cover that base or someone else gets my money.
CCP isn't going to give up on us. They just stopped treating this game like a beta. Some of us can't handle it.
Others htfu.

In terms of CCP and specifically that assessment of Dust I have to disagree. They kept pumping people and resources in and out of WoD for roughly 10 years even tho there was never a true playable alpha. CCP has proven that they will do what CCP does and Dust is really no different. The only reason Dust is still alive is because they could not afford showing two total failures out of two products that they tried with other products in the pipeline that they were searching for investments for.
Now that they have locked down funding, launched GunJack, and are gearing up to launch Valkyrie they can shut Dust down and say, "We want to shift our focus to VR." without making them self look bad or putting potential funding opportunities at risk. It is all optics at this point which is why they have had no shame in milking Dust while they were forced to keep it around.
Dust going to any other platform is totally in the air at this point since obviously the Shanghai studio has proven very efficient at pumping out simple little mobile games.

I already made my own cardboard. With the weight and the eye strain, its a two hour TOPS novelty. Sure, the high dollar headset will be easier on the eyes. But something about being human makes you want out of it around hour one. Wife loves the videos but can only handle 30-45 mins.
Point being: vr is finally awesome (I remember 90's attempts...) But its not a grind for hours feature.
As for dust just being a flop till they can drop it: They are stuck with dust. You mentioned WoD, which never even made it out the gate, and was in no way related to new Eden. And never made a single isk. Objection: irrelevant. There are more eve players who want dust to succeed than you may think. Not to mention, us active players, and the roughly 500-1000 who lurk forums waiting for news.
Social media has a way of spreading news, be it good or bad.. Pulling the plug on dust at this point will inarguably hurt the bottom line. CCP is in the business of business. I don't see it.
You have your opinion, and I have mine. Neither can be changed, obviously. Mine is based off four years experience in a fortune 500 corporation, three of those in internal resource.

There already WAS an answer: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2719402#post2719402
roughly translated, it says "that is kind of a medium-big change, not beyond the real of possibility, but too big to implement now. We will keep this in mind and check if it is easily doable."

I almost completely agree with you actually.
I got one of the slightly higher quality plastic Chinese cardboards with the head band and what not and do enjoy it but motion sickness hits me quick. I have always had a small issue with motion sickness so can not say I am surprised and do not count that against how other users will feel about it all.
You mention pulling the plug on Dust hurting the bottom line which is pretty much exactly what I referenced as the case up to this point. If anything I would just amend my saying it is safe to pull the plug now to saying they can ride it out with this same minimal crew on the PS3 until all the players are gone or PSN for the PS3 shuts down and blame Sony. I was really thinking that when I said going to any other platform is up in the air but was not very clear there.
The number of Eve players I come across while playing Eve that even know Dust is still alive is very minimal and I play almost exclusively in the FW warzones which of all people should be the ones that know about Dust. I can agree that there are many that care as I have come across a few of them as well but it simply is not enough to change CCPs path, whatever it may be.
Technically at this point you could call me one of those Eve players as I now spend about 10 times as much time on Eve as I do on Dust but even my Eve participation has seriously declined thanks to the PS4 and life.

nothing would make me happier then seeing a dust port to the ps4.
Sadly you need to look at the facts CCP was talking about dust months before the beta was out, they have been talking about valkyrie for years and it's not out, they talked about the dust port to PC months before they canned it.
let's face it CCP has no problem talking about things, it's when they aren't talking about their plans that it's obvious they have none.
dust is dead, I'm not happy about it but it will remain on ps3 with minimal updates until it's inevitable closure in the same fashion as MAG, enjoy it while it lasts don't bother spending any money on it, because CCP isn't either. |

Thank god for no port. This game is trash with a big T. CCP should stick to pc game eve. They build a great game, then turn it into a crap sandwich. An force feed it to ps3 players. They can't even fix hit detection. It was great before uprising. I love that old dust. This is just trash now. X box was smart to back out in the beginning. |
